Asics Gel Resolution 9

The release is Jan 1, 2023 at $150 MSRP. One of the release colors is steel blue with hazard green (pics already online)... but I'm not gonna post it. Don't wanna get in trouble.

2. The laces need to be much longer. I like my shoes to be a little loose, and I could barely tie my shoes. Also, the diameter of the laces is very thin. I replaced them with longer and flat shoe laces. I think the original thin laces cause additional pinching vs. wider flat shoe laces.

The GR8s are now comfortable. That said, we should NOT have to jump through these hoops to make $140 shoes comfortable.

The 9s are funkier in design. I don’t like the blue/green color way that’s already surfacing. Hoping there is a cool black/white version at launch.

That looks to be the case - as with any next gen shoe.

Edit: Likely this is the last color way released of the 8s. All new releases will be 9s in Jan 23 and beyond. (#speculation)

Design of the Gel Res 9s looks interesting... colour is best seen in person. May or may not be nice. Hopefully there are several options to choose from.

On the positive side... I have blue clothing and Hyper G strings and/or green accented racquets... so it could all work out with "colour co-ordination".

I found that black and blue sample one. It looks hella ugly. Not just the color but the design of the shoe from the side is ugh! Glad I stocked up on the GR8's. I have enough to last me through the GR9 and GR10 so Asics has 2 chances to screw up before I'll need them to make a good one again.

Your collection is impressive, I saw them in the GR8 thread.

My clay GR8s arrived today and these shoes feel great. I guess playing in them will tell the story but they fit very well and feel significantly lighter than I was expecting. I have an all court set headed to me too and think I’ll keep them as well.

Ive acquired a few more since then.:oops:
Still on the fence about this new TW colorway but if the GR9s are that ugly I probably Will end up picking these up as my last GR8 acquisition.

Not sure why they used black as a base color. These are not nearly as good as the noosa inspired 4. Would’ve been much better just doing those over again on the 9. Torn on these but may end up getting them anyway.

The green and grey version is reminiscent of the past version of the Head Extreme line, but I agree the black and blue is far better.

Guess I will buy another pair of GR8s to postpone this price hike as long as possible. At least they don't look significantly different.

Those triangular patterns on the toe box have been removed (a staple on most recent GRs except for the 7?) and they have removed some of the midsole containment which should make the shoes slightly more comfortable without sacrificing much lateral stability.

Im not a GR wearer myself, but this shoe should keep everyone on board who already liked the 8’s.

It looks cosmetically similar, but with some slight changes that change the shoe for the better without completely changing the functionality of the shoe (I wish more shoe brands did this).

I'm presuming that it's an air-channel which is designed to increase the air flow under foot, which would improve the sliding capabilities of the shoe. Maybe they received complaints that the shoe was sticking too much, or that clay was getting stuck too much on the shoe, and this will help it come off easier and make the shoe slide/perform better.

The other possibility is that since the "all-court" version has this groove (for the reasons mentioned previously), it was just easier to keep it with the herring-bone version, and it didn't make that much difference.

Just thoughts.
