Asics Solution Speed FF review issues

So I purchased a pair of these for myself as well as a pair for my wife.

I came from Resolution 7 and she normally uses the Solution Speeds. We are big fans of Asics, but dude...

what in the world is wrong with these Solution Speed FF's they are incredibly painful, I was hurting to the point where I had to take them off mid match to switch back over to my Resolutions.
When I went to talk to my wife, she was saying she had the same pains. We also noticed a weird popping sound from the shoes uppers. The popping sound comes from the design lines of the uppers.

She muscled through the pain to attempt to break in the shoes, but for me it was hurting the outside of my pinky toe so bad, I wussed out.

Has anyone else come across this issue? We have always worn nothing but Asics, but this is horrible.
I will say these shoes are incredibly light weight, and I was so excited to tear it up in these shoes. Now I'm just sad.

Solution speed 2s are my GOAT shoe, heard these were similar, did you ever use the ss2?

I currently wear the gel court FF. How do the gel court FF differ from the solution speed FF?

Similar issues with you.

I was using the Resolutions before moving to the solution speed FF's. Didn't like the FF's as much as I'd hoped.

Moved back to the GelRes.

More comfortable, more stable, less pain.

Only thing the FF's I liked more was that it was lighter and locked in the heel better.

The Court FF's are probably the best tennis shoes ever made. They just wore way to fast for me.

quick update though, my wife is starting to like the ff. She said the pain went away because of breaking in the shoes. I really only wore it for about 30 minutes before I couldnt take the pain anymore.

I guess I will attempt to break them in, but geez... its seriously painful.

The Solution FF's are my first Asics shoes. I find they have a very comfortable sole and are great for impact protection. The only issue I had was the laces digging into the top of my foot when I tied them tight. I think if they used thicker laces it might have helped this issue.

Yikes, I'm a SS3, Court FF and Gel Res 7 (on my 3rd pair) user and like them all. Just bought a pair of SS FF LE, scared to wear them after your review. May have to try them around the house a bit so I can return them in case they hurt.

I found the SSFFs, like the GSS3, doesn't secure the foot very well because the lace or the lace holes allow too much slippage. Changing the laces help a bit, but then the other problem is the shallow heel area, which requires secure lacing. The cushioning is good but there are flaws. I gave the shoes away because it was not a good fit for me.

I agree with all these observations. In addition, I found the shape of the toebox to be a bit odd and uncomfortable - even when I ordered a size larger.

That's the problem with internet buying: No trying! My foot type is now best served with the Cage 3 and Zoom Zeroes. I don't have brand affiliations or loyalty, I wish there was a better way of finding if a shoe really fits my needs! Even trying at the store doesn't mean much!

Actually If you buy from amazon prime. You can test out for thirty days. And then return if you like it.

And your right without testing them out you would never know if they hurt or not. In fact for the speed solutions, they felt fine until I started warming up on court.

Short shoe strings were mentioned in the review for the Speed FF. Due to narrow heels/feet I always use a runner's loop in the very back eyelet to cinch down the heel of my shoes.

Are the shoe strings on this shoe long enough to allow me to do this?

I HAVE to use the runner's loop to secure my D width, normal arch foot. If you have narrow heels, which are taller, you may want to reconsider Asics. As I mentioned, the heel collar is low, as is the achilles notch. So if you have narrow heel, get a shoe like the Cage 3, with a sockliner, which will secure your foot more.

I have been using them since they came out and they are super comfy, no break in, fast and just perfect.

well they definitely require a breakin, but the wife is liking them.

Do you know how many hours i needed to break in my new Yonex Eclipsion 2?
At least 15 hours!
Of course Yonex is Yonex, Asics is Asics but they are all made from plastics. We hear and see everywhere modern tennis shoes have super-technology, systems etc.
For me that's bu...hit. They are all made from hard plastics and they need some time to break in. That's only of course my opinion.

My wife uses Asics Speed Solution 3 and had problem with width - they were too narrow, but after more then ~25 hours now is fine

15 -25 hrs? How many foot problems would occur in that time that could incur serious injury? A little discomfort is acceptable the 1st 20 mins. After that, the shoe should fit properly, or it's not the shoe for your foot. No shoe should cause prolonged pain at the least!

Right. Pain is absolutely not accaptable. Writing 15-25 hrs i mean slight dicomfort, not pain.

Yes well maybe I'm just picky, but even slight discomfort after 40 mins is unacceptable to me, no less 15-25hrs!

I use the Zoom Zero as well. I didn't like it initially as it felt less secure than the ZC3, and it sits a little higher up. However, after I got used to it, it is even better cushioned than the ZC3, and that curved outsole really does work well. I find the outsole pattern has less traction and is less durable than the ZC3. I feel more secure with the ZC3, which is now my main shoe for the softer hard courts like Plexi, and the ZZ is my game day and harder courts shoe.

This was not before the match & this was after 1 month of use. Normally I do 1 year with a pair of SS3.

Now I will wear my Asics Solution Speed 3 Clay until they are worn out.
After that I will go with the Asics Gel Resolution or move too an other brand.

Haven't been using the forum much, but needed to jump on so I could chime in on an old thread.

I've been a big solution speed guy since the 1's. The 2's were by far my favorite and compared to the GOAT Gel Res 4. The 3's were okay and a slight step back from the comfort of the 2, but I think they improved on the upper durability and spill over issues with the shoe loosening up too much (similar to what the court ff does).

I just got a pair of the SSFF after retiring my last pair of 3s and man... What a step back the SSFF's are. They were supposed to be comparable to the comfort of the 2s, but there is even more plastic on the upper that digs into the top of my foot and the lateral side (pinky toe). This is after a 6 hour break in on/off court as well. The heel is also higher than previous iterations and it doesn't leave me feeling very locked in. If you want a Solution speed FF experience without the Asics price tag, and more comfort from the upper, try out the adizero club.

FWIW I think the Ubersonic 2 re-release is the closest thing to the old speed 2s. There's not as much support, but the step in comfort is there once you get over the booty construction.
