because such margins presumably make a difference at the highest levels, do some pros get their frames extended because of this squashing effect occurring with the arrangement of some layups?
The answer is - yes! Mister Gromov, who actually told me the story about Karatsev's racket tricks, also mentioned that long time ago he faced next situatuon. While stringing at Kremlin Cup in early 90-ies, one player asked him to do the opposite to Karatsev's racket thing - to make stringing process in a way that will extend racket in its lenght. Karatsev asked to widen it, and that guy to extend.

I think oldmanyellingatcloud may have been asking if some pros extend the racquet handle to restore the length lost to squishing the head?

Apologies if I got that wrong; extending the length by squishing could possibly? increase sw due to increasing the total distance/length of the racquet from the pivot axis?/could possibly? move the sweet spot up slightly? - I’m struggling to perceive any benefit that wouldn’t be obtained more effectively by weighting or lengthening the racquet conventionally. Please educate me if possible.

I was pretty high when I asked, but I'm thinking about a guy like Djokovic who extends his racquets 0.1". granted margins are much much smaller at the professional level, but if it's not to counter the scrunching of the frame, I don't know what extending a racquet by 2.5 mm does

Amps up the swing weight without touching the overall weight of the frame.

In Novak's case...both, the SW and static weight went down from the previous setup (364g --> 359g; 370 kg*cm^2 --> 360 kg*cm^2). And his string pattern changed too.
The PT346.1 has a fairly flexible (soft) hoop and every of his frames (I usually keep 2-3 strung to share with people and for my own fun) hoop compresses and matches the stiffer 27" frames because of the gut (at close to 60lbs) in the mains...

Seems like he switched to Hawk Power from normal Hawk white as far as I've seen on the TV. He uses petroleum green string in Atlanta 2024
