At this rate, will Djokovic tie up the Nadal h2h?

Will Djokovic tie or overtake the h2h with Nadal?

Strange, but for some reason here, Rafa losing to players ranked 100 or above at the same slam for the last three years, while Djokovic plays multiple finals at that very same event, somehow gives Rafa bragging rights, because Djokovic didn't beat him and extends the time...he was Rosol'd instead.

If Nadal was beating Djokovic everywhere, or at least out performing him in all those slams and it was Novak who was failing to get to him most of the time, then I would have to agree. But that is not the truth.

That is "H2H" logic for you. It has obvious flaws except for when Nadal fans want to use it. Then it's the bible.

It would be so depressing if that ever happened!
Not depressed since AO 2012

Me neither! :)

Federer can say what he wants. Fact is being healthy is part of the game, if he, Nadal and Murray can't stay healthy, their problem. It takes nothing away from Djokovic's accomplishments, he has shown he can beat them all when they are full fit, and his consistency in all events means he would always be knocking on the number one ranking.

Made me chuckle a bit when Federer gave that well disguised backhanded compliment. But hey it's TTW, I'm gonna pretend like he made a good point.

You must have been in 2013 and in early 2014. No number 1 then, no? I see Novak losing the number 1 ranking at some point this year again.

He's been #1 for most of the time since AO 12, no?

And of course you see him losing the number 1 ranking, I wouldn't expect anything else.

Nadal hasn't beaten Darcis in a grand slam for two years now and the latest 6 GSs. This is bad.. lol ;)

And lets not forget, Nadal hasn't beaten Olivier Mutis since 2004.

11 years and counting :)

Since January 2012, Federer, Nadal and Murray have all had their injury issues. Yet still, Novak only won 4/9 grand slam finals with all three injured and hasn't defeated Rafael Nadal in a grand slam match.

All of which defines the type of historical champion Novak will present himself. Great, but never the greatest.

For a supposed fan of Novak, you sure like to knock him down whenever you can.

And I don't think anyone here is calling him the greatest?

If Nadal drops down the rankings then he won't be able to avoid Djokovic as easily.

At the WTF, each player has a chance to win twice against another player.
Good advantage for Djokovic.

Djokovic will probably pass him.

Do you honestly think Rafa will even participate in the WTF? I wouldn't put money on it.

Didn't really answer his point though, which was a fair one.

That Novak as of recent has been more consistent, whereas Nadal has perhaps had higher peaks when he actually did hit form and hence won those matches when he went deep in slams (my take on it), is probably true.

This is fair. Djoker is a great champion. And one of his strengths is his awesome consistency. But u have to respect how high Rafa can peak and recognize that while he hasn't had Djokers consistency his peaks have been a challenge for Djoker. That's not to say that Djoker hasn't had his own "F you" mode peaks (2011).

Respect both guys for being great champions. Enjoy the tennis the rivalry produces.

This post ... is really dumb. You're ripping a guy for going 4/9 against the field including a revolving door of those same all time greats who at least one of which wasn't injured at each slam?

Djokers career is in mid/late prime. Let's see how he finishes before you judge his final place in history. He's one (highly unlikely) CYGS in 2015 or 16 from joining the GOAT discussion. Again unlikely cause I think Murray/Kei will prevent it but we're just going to have to wait and see.

Fed and Nadal likely won't have much to say about the tail end of Djokers prime. Murray, Kei and maybe Byrd/Raonic will be his competition.

When did I ever claim to be a fan of #NovakDjokovic ?

For the most part, men's tennis is boring. The #Isner-a-thon's of this generation aren't good for the #sport. People don't want to sit and watch any sporting event for 5 hours a sitting. I typically discuss men's tennis when #Serena isn't playing, but otherwise, I could care less.

Well you have said before that you like Novak but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean you're a fan of him.

Btw it's "couldn't care less" Angie. Go#bye.

I don't follow tennis to watch #Novak play. He's great. Good for him! Good for you! Woo hoo!

Come to think of it, this generations men's matches have largely morphed into a similar defensive posture, that of a 1979 Chris Evert and Tracy Austin lob-a-thon. Too Lengthy and unnecessary. Men's best-of-five is too long to be sitting watching a tennis match. Given the defensive nature of the men's game today, they should reduce all matches to best two out of three.

I'm guessing Rafa ends with the advantage as I'm skeptical of Novak getting enough opportunities going forward to even it up. I think there is a reasonable chance they may never play another match outside of clay events and I don't expect them to meet in every one of those and they'll only play the same clay tournaments 4 times at most. If Djoker is going to catch him, he'll have to win pretty much every time, IMO, and even that may not be enough.

Then again, Rafa could rise from the ashes once more and lay waste to the ATP Tour. Who knows with this guy? But, he's nearing 30 and it's only going to get tougher for him.

i'll take that as a yes if they meet enough times and a no if nadal keeps losing to mugs. while im at it put your balls back on ......you were more fun that way.
It makes no difference if #Rafael loses to #mugs, because #Novak hasn't won 50% of the #grandslam #finals he's played since January 2012, the last time #Novak defeated #Rafael in a #grandslam match.

Just because #Rafael and #Andy have been recovering from #injury doesn't mean #Novak suddenly began playing better. #Novak peaked four years ago. #Go. #Bye.

As long as Novak continues winning slams I couldn't care less if it's Nadal or Sam Querrey he beats in the final. Go#bye.

Hey look, another person who's never actually played any sports at a competitive level and thinks it's better to lose in the first round then be "tarnished" with a finals loss. Ignored.

I'm not surprised you're trying to turn the topic back to slam-finals-conversion-rate again. The discussion was about the possibility of Djokovic and Nadal having even h2h...it has nothing to do with conversion rate of slam finals. Why do you feel the need to bring it up? Because the mere thought of Novak maybe equaling Nadal in h2h flusters you so much?

No one is saying that Novak is the greatest, or that he has a stellar win ratio for slam finals...yet you sound like a broken record harping on and on about how many slam finals Novak has won since AO 2012. We know his conversion rate, lady.

I know you're "older" so maybe that's why you can't help sounding like a broken record.

I don't even know why she uses the "#"?? Is she trying to be hip?? Who talks like that?? I can't imagine anyone other than maybe tween girls typing like that...

You like to talk about stuff that bores you. Got it.

Oddly #enough, #RafaelNadal and #NovakDjokovic have won equal amounts of #grandslam tournaments (4) since #NovakDjokovic last defeated #RafaelNadal in a #grandslam match (January 2012).

#RafaelNadal was 4-2 in #grandslam finals during this period.
#Novak Djokovic was 4-5 in #grandslam finals during this period.

#Coincidentally, both #IvanLendl and #NovakDjokovic play similarly in #grandslam finals and have won #equal amounts of #grandslam #tournaments.

Yet, #suddenly, #Novak fans are applauding/celebrating #Rafael's slow return from #injury, thinking this will be #Novak's #BIG chance to #flip his poor H2H and poor #grandslam finals record.

#Right. #Novak is too #mental. He will find a way to lose.

Oh I know she's the total opposite in age. I was referring to her mentality. ;)

She comes off as someone older trying to be younger.

Probably her desperate attempts to recapture some youth?
