Djokovic has utterly dominated Nadal at his very best, and with Fed not being around much longer to take Djoker out for Nadal, Nadal's slam count will probably not increase any time soon. He is essentially doomed. Given these facts, we can now begin making predictions as to when Djoker will pass Nadal's slam count since Djoker has no one that can beat him at a slam other than Federer.

Current slam count: Djoker 4, Nadal 10.
Slam gap = 6

Djoker is only 24 and has a one year advantage on Nadal in this regard, and probably more so in terms of fewer years playing peak tennis. Considering peak tennis play, Djoker is probably 3 or 4 years 'younger' than Nadal.

Thus, I would say Djoker will possibly tie Nadal at AO2014. i.e. he will win 2 slams in 2012 and 3 in 2013. I doubt Nadal will win any more slams so the gap probably won't widen.

Any other guesses?

2012: 1 slam, 2013: 1 slam, 2014: 2 slams, 2015: 1 slam 2016: 2 slams

2016 Wimbledon is where he will pass Nadal.

I don't think he will. 6 more majors is just an astronomical figure, it's one and a half times as many as he has now. And that's just to get to 10.

If he was 22 and just getting going I might think otherwise, but he's 24, he's got a lot of miles on the clock already and been playing at a high level for almost 5 seasons. He reached his first Major QF in 2006, that feels like a lifetime ago.

I can see him beating McEnroe though, and quite possibly he could be #1 all throughout next year.

Chalk up one vote here for "He won't". It takes a few seasons of sustained dominance to get to double digit Slam wins, and thus far Novak has had only one.

Where is the poll option for : "It will not happen" ?
Nadal owns the FO and some of the others are going to start winning slams like Murray and Tsonga, so I do Not think the Joker man will surpassing Nadal.

Djokovic can't even finish a tournament nowadays, he will be lucky to win one more slam (probably in the next 3 years sometime when he gets an easy draw) and it would only be hardcourt. Djokovic time is over. He made the decision to push his body past its means. Fedal will resume dominance at Wimbledon in 2012 and Nadal as always wins Roland Garros.

Who's the one who has flopped out of the AO with injury the last 2 years straight? Nadal hasn't even made the semi-final at the AO in 3 years.

Federer hasn't even made the semifinals of Wimbledon in the last 2 years. Djokovic is still the man to beat and will be fresh and ready to go at the Slams.

Really? Has his shoulder fallen back into its socket yet? :???:

Dude, even if he does get 10 slams, which he wont. Rafa still will win a lot of slams.
For Nole
2012: 0
2013: 2
2014: 1
2015: 1
8 slams, he can be damn happy with that.
But he wont win RG. Rafa will win it for the next 2/3 times.

Will not happen.

When all 3 are retired, Federer will have more slams than Nadal who will have more slams than Djokovic.

The sooner the better.

But watch out Nole fans, once NAdal recovers the banana stuck in his throat he will go on a tear.

He will get there eventually, but it could be any of the slams where he does it so who knows which one it will be.

Chances of this happening is most probable..I think fed will eventually be at top of the list will nadal behind him.

If Djokovic bags the AO next month, people MAY start taking this topic a little more seriously...

Nole will probably have more slams that Rafa , Roger and Murray combined. I am sure clarky will agree with me.

That won't happen if Rafa recovers his mental strength before AO. It all comes down to this one point.

Will Joker be remembered as a transitional champion who lucked out during a year when Rafa's played atrociously, or will Roger be accepted to be a weak-era GOAT ... all boils down to Rafa's recovering his mental strength.

Apparently his shoulders are strong enough to carry a strong head now. So I don't think anything will change in 2012. More from beatings to follow from Djoko.

It's all depend on the organizers. If they keep placing Fed in Nole's half draw, then it's going to be hard for him to catch Nadal's total slams.

Not this again. It's the seed numbers that count, and Federer's and Djokovic's seed numbers have changed over the years.

The draws may not be fixed and it may have happened by accident, but the point remains. Fed and Djokovic on the same side has happened way too often. It should change now.

Well, I don't want to get into this discussion. But all I can say is if the outcome of the draw in the future continue to favor Nadal, it lessen Nole's chances of catching Rafa.

Let's just hope the future draw will be more balance for all the top 4 players.

If Nadal draws tomic, or Raonic, simon, or even Andreev( a fantastic first rounder) I say its bad for Nadal

Why isnt a most reasonable option present in the poll?

Option -he doesnt ever pass nadal

I.think nadal will finish his career with around 15 slams. That means novak has to win 12 more to pass him. I think that, though possible, is unlikely.

Why not? Who do you see stopping Djokovic in the generation coming up? Didn't Nadal reach 10 slams even coming up as a clay-court specialist? So you see Djokovic even more limited in his game than Nadal? The guy who spanked Nadal on all surfaces this year...

As i said, it is possible djokovic could pass him, but it is probable that he wont. To not even have the option that he wont is a short coming of the poll. Maths is what works against novak. If nadal gets to 15 then djokovic would have to win 2 slams a year for the next 6 years to pass him.
