ATG players getting shredded in a slam match.

Here are some matches where an ATG was shredded at a slam event. I am looking for matches of these greats where they lost some time after they won their first slam title.

The ones that immediately come to my mind are:

2008 FO final: Nadal beats Fed 6-1, 6-3, 6-0
2019 AO final: Djoker beats Nadal 6-3, 6-2, 6-3
1974 Wimbledon final: Connors beats Rosewall 6-1, 6-1, 6-4
2000 USO final: Safin beats Sampras 6-4, 6-4, 6-3
2001 USO final: Hewitt beats Sampras 7-6, 6-1, 6-1

What other matches feature an ATG great getting slaughtered at a slam event? My mind is drawing a blank, since I barely slept last night.

What’s interesting about Agassi’s blowout loss to Sampras in 1999 is that this was Agassi’s best year. He won 2 slam titles in 1999 for the only time in his career and he finished world #1 that year. Also, Agassi had only won half of his slam titles heading into that 1999 Wimbledon final.

The 2008 AO semi hurts. Djoker shredded Fed 7-5, 6-3, 7-6. 2008 was a terrible year for Fed. I really thought that Fed was nearly finished after 2008. I thought that Sampras’ 14 slam titles might only be matched in a best-case scenario. Fed was stuck at 12 slam titles after the 2008 Wimbledon loss.

What about Wimbledon 1999 final? That was the best match Sampras has ever played. Agassi couldn't do anything.
Good one!
Slightly overrated imo. Sampras was only untouchable for a period in the middle for the rest he kinda just botted his way to victory. Think Sampras has had more comprehensive walking on water matches.
i always prefered the masters final of the same year... sampras made it look so easy, not to mention this jumping overhead festival !
For Nadal it's probably AO 2008 against Tsonga and US 2009 against Del Potro.
gonzalez AO 2007 was another brutal entertaining denadalization :) (but aren't they all ?)

Not actually a shred at that score, but I agree with the rest.Fed said after the 2008 AO loss : "Of course, I've created a monster, so I know I need to always win every tournament. But semis is still pretty good "

It's amazing how Hewitt and Safin, portrayed as weak era mugs, soundly defeated Sampras in slam matches.

Being a Nadal fan, the first three matches I thought of were 2008 AO SF, 2019 AO F and this 2007 nomination. Gonzalez's level that tournament was amazing and he was in extremely good shape. Not surprising given that Stefanki was coaching him.

I'm surprised you brought up connors-rosewall at Wimbledon and not USO. Both were blowouts but the USO match was the most one-sided Slam final in history, 61 60 61

I think this match doesn't fit into your description.
The previous slam was taken by Novak.
While Rafa had an injury and entered AO pretty much without any competitive warm-up, so the fact that he reached that final was already quite an achievement.
What are you guys on about. He was completely annihilated. Just accept it without the BS injury excuse.

@Pheasant now, would you mind explaining me how the AO2019 fits here?
just a reminder, before AO, following are played: USO, Wimbledon. Shall I remind you who won these events? or perhaps google will help you?
or you guys have no other way of feeling better except talking some nonsense about folks that reached the pinnacle in what they do? In this case I feel truly sorry for many people.

He lost, must’ve been injured
@dropshotlikeitshot you know, reading helps.
Understanding what you've read helps even more.
I know it might be difficult, yet it helps.
Would you mind at least reading the initial post or shall I make a quote for you?
Would you mind at least reading the answer entirely, as it is, without adding non-sense of your own, or is this too complicated?

People (and the current story-line) tend to minimize other players' acheivements to capitalize on the current trend.

To be fair, Sampras was a bit off in those matches, but Safin and Hewitt played unbelievably in those matches. A drubbing never happens when both guys are playing amazing.

I remember thinking about Hewitt, "who's gonna beat this guy, he never misses and he gets to everything". He really was absurdly good - as much as I've always disliked him - but then the injuries started.
Safin was returning Sampras' serve like he was facing Sjeng Schalken. He always seemed like a guy who was going to be inconsistent, so it wasn't too surprising to see him be up and down. He also had many injuries that people never really talked about, at least not in the same way people on the internet do now.

You know, real injuries.

View both results after removing those hatred-tinted glasses. You will have better clarity.
I have actually watched those two matches instead of just results. But it could come handy if you tried to be original and not use that glasses phrase, it was worn out long time ago and it almost made me not answer to your excellent observation.

Only in the eyes of a hater can taking a set be worse than getting annihilated in straight sets. Sadly for you, your Fed hatred is not going to erase reality.
