Athletic DNA Sponsorship Thread

Just wondering what other people got in their packages and for how much. Just some shorts, tee's, socks hats ect. for a set price?

Just so you know, it is not really a sponsorship, more of a package.

Clothing quality is very nice though.

But, kids as low as 50 in a section... are now wearing it and have a sponsorship, so seems like a bit of hype.

It is a scam. We had a long thread about it when they first came out. If you price the same type merchandise on alternate websites, its cheaper or close to the same with no obligation. And the kid's parents have to give their credit card numbers or bank account numbers to pay the monthly fee. You have to keep taking stuff like the old magazine scams.

Total scam, no one is sponsored except for a few top kids. A true sponsorship gives heavy discounts to the very top kids....and don't need a credit card number and you don't have to take a minimum quantity. All but the select few top kids are not sponsored, they are buying a required amount of merchandise at a market price.

They cater to the kid's and parent's egos by saying they are 'sponsored'. Lots of ways to lose or waste your money in the tennis world.

It used to be cool. But ever since people start figuring out that only a select few get fully sponsored, the paying ones have become a laughing stock.

3 star and above gives you a pretty good deal...

you can cancel your select packages at anytime you want... if youre like 1 star to rising star... theres no point of getting ADNA select. otherwise, adna is a pretty good clothing brand and it has no intentions of ripping people off

It's not a scam. Basically everyone at my club has it and as long as you're ranked high enough the packages are super cheap. It's not like they lock you into the package either you can stop.

First, my son doesn't wear it, so I am not pro or negative on it.

I just am giving the facts.

You can be a 2 star, and get a discount, and be "sponsored".

It seems to be cool among the young kids,
but the older boys ( can't speak about the girls), don't wear it as much.

I think it is nice clothing...
but, it is a lot of hype and plays on the parents and the kids.

IT IS A SCAM!!

Do not fall for it and ignore the posters who say otherwise.....they either have some gain to be made or their ego wants them to believe they are getting 'a deal'.

It can be cancelled but they make it hard and have some charges. We have parents whose cancel calls were ignored, misrouted, letters ignored, etc. Think about the worst health club you know and how hard they make it to cancel a membership......its the same thing these bums do.

There is NO REASON to have a set amount of tennis stuff all the time. Many of our kids get quality clothes that last for a long time. Unless you are FULLY SPONSORED forget it. Just shop online and get quality gear as needed.

They have hooked some young and dumb club boys who are spreading this virus. Run, run. run the other way. NO COMPANY WHO TRULY SPONSORS YOU NEEDS YOU PARENT'S FINANCIAL INFORMATION!!!!!

TennisCoachFLA, I am not being paid to say this, I don't have an ADNA sponsorship and never had before in the past. I know many families with kids who have ADNA and none of them have had an issue with it. I have a couple friends who stopped with the program because as you said, they didn't feel like they needed that much tennis clothing. They didn't have any trouble cancelling though.

I don't know why you are so against ADNA, did a bunch of players who are sponsored by them beat your kid or something lol?

In my decades in tennis I have built a relationship with dozens of coaches and hundreds of parents and kids. We email, meet at tournaments, telephone, etc.

In the last 2 years I have heard at least 50 complaints about this company. Problems with delivery and many, many, many issues with trying to cancel deals, high pressure tactics, etc.. Compare that to not one complaint from any other sponsor.

Complete scam. The only way their hideous designs can sell is by playing to kids' egos. But as TCF said, most people are on to them now.

Yup, most have caught on. But man, their remaining supporters are rough, they will defend them to the end. Like a mob boss who pays for fireworks for the locals while ripping off tons of people. Those locals will defend that mob boss with a passion!!

Isn't that the REAL issue, folks?

Kidding, but they really are heinous.
The Columbia House of tennis wear.

My favorite is how excited kids get when they open up the package. Is it because they think they are 'sponsored'? Or that they think they belong to a little 'club' of sorts? Or that they dress like Robert Kendrick?

it's a different business model than NIKE...for the same crap poly probably made by the same children FOR the same children.

I probably sound like a retrogrouch, but...I wish they'd bring some of the cool brands back...from my days in college tennis before it became all adidas or the swoosh. LeCoqSportif, Diadora, ST, Ellesse, et al.

Maybe ADNA is like Court Casuals, Moody, Foot-Joy or Todd 1, hahah. Anyone remember those off-brands?

Ha, great post. It is the ugliest logo on the planet along with some of the worst designs you could ever imagine. You might as well tape a sign to your shirt that says "I am gullible".

Its the same rip off model, like you said Columbia House was the first to use it way back in the day. You could not stop those dang records and 8 tracks from coming!

For the kids out there......when you truly get a great deal or get sponsored, your parents will not need to give anyone their credit card numbers!!

We're arguing over ADNA's ugly designs vs Nike's ugly designs.
Can't we all just get along?

BOTH are ugly, yet have some status attached to them somehow.

ADNA is edgier and has a different business model and markets totally differently...as they try to make it in a tough sport apparel industry.

Nike is just 'too big to fail'.

Props to TCFla for referencing the 8-track. Had some in my first car, ahha!

Wow, somebody got your panties in a bunch. Geez guys, have you seen the Nike designs over the last 10 years? THEY are hideous. Our player dropped them as his sponsor several years ago cause they became uncool to HIM (the one wearing it.) They got worse, remember Nadal in pink and tan with a green highlight bar - come on. If ADNA makes the kids feel cool and play tennis in their little clothes what is wrong with that? Should tennis clothes only be for the elite? I'm sure it is better to get a box of stuff shipped to you than go to Target or the local sporting goods store and pay $55 for a poorly made and ugly Nike. The full kswiss offer is for top 30 nationally, which we did, but just 30 players get that. Great for us, but sounds like USTA elitism. I am for doing whatever to get more kids into it, not making it more restrictive in any way. I am guessing these younger players may have illusions of grandeur, but if it makes them feel like it did my son to get his Nike, KSwiss and Babolat sponsorships, regardless of the brand, I say that's super. I hear ADNA totally styles their top fully sponsored players and overloads them with custom stuff and a lot of it. If ADNA makes little junior feel good about himself on the court and the kids love the designs which THEY do, let it be. Ya, like a check is such a better logo than an infinite sign. You guys sound like you are soooo old and cranky - 80 years old and out of touch. My guess is the more the parents hate it, the more the kids will love it. And guys, they do. Funny, you have turned into your parents - ha!

First of all, you lose all credibility when you say the logo is an "infinite sign". For starters the word is infinity sign and thats not what it is. Any freshman biology student recognizes the symbol as a derivation of the DNA double helix, obviously a take on their name. Geez, its hard to even go past that nonsense of your post. All the biological stuff in the background of their website should have clued you in. More schooling, less tennis would be my idea for you.

It is NOT A SPONSORSHIP. The top few kids get free stuff, the rest is a MULTILEVEL MARKETING SCAM!!!!! They are a RIP OFF. I have heard at least 50 complaints from kids and parents who are young and not cranky.

There is no need to be obligated to take merchandise. That is not a sponsorship. And better quality gear is available on line for the same or lower prices....with zero obligation.

The program is a scam and a rip off. We have some of the best boys in the country training in our circle of coaches....NOT A ONE thinks Athletic DNA is cool in any way, shape, or form. These kids are the alpha dogs of the sport....and they think the stuff is beyond lame.

If your kids think thats cool you better watch out. They sound gullible enough to think huffing paint fumes is fun and "cool".

What was the typo?

I support that ADNA is trying to make it in the apparel biz. I support that they are trying to 'take on NIKE', but I don't think they are.

I also don't really see them as an Multi-Level-Marketing sort of outfit. I just think it's a little cheesy. I am not elitist. I am not pro-USTA (other than going to Davis Cup ties when I can). I am not that old. I do not see Nike as old or establishment.

Oh, and....

TCF just chill out, no need to personally attack others. It's especially sad when you stoop down to nitpicking over grammatical errors.

The way you put it, then Adidas, Kirshbaum, Babolat, Head, Yonex, Wilson etc. are all in the same boat. Clearly on the top few kids are getting free stuff. What, do you want them to give free stuff to everybody who has it? All the companies I listed above, plus more, have "sponsorships" which are actually only partial discounts.

As for bragging about all the "alpha dogs" of the sport not thinking ADNA is cool, tell that to Henrik Wiersholm, Eric Johnson, Chase Colton, Patrick Kypson, etc, that it's not cool enough. Last I checked, they are all "alpha dogs" as well.

who cares about adna? They make ugly clothes, and make new lines of clothing every couple of years.

Yes^.

But I will say this in favor of ADNA:
1] It's way cooler than the ubiquitous swoosh or 3stripes.
2] The colors themselves are pretty solid. Red, white and black....royal, black and white...can't really go wrong.

EDIT:
It's funny...and this is just one man's opinion...
I think it's easy to design cool stuff.
I think what is difficult is to come up with a great marketing plan that'll fit a fair business model, which will lead to profit.

So, I do not envy their position. I'm sure they are trying to do their best on the marketing/sales side. Their designs, meh.

They made solid decisions with colors, choosing royal blue, to go with black and white.
I think their choice of red to go with black and white is a good choice, too.

I like these colors.

Oh, god, a typo, let me go kill myself. Even so, Mr. I am guessing not college educated, you can use the symbol to represent an infinite amount as well.

Might want to quit while you're ahead. I'm guessing you must have been an art major if you did go to college, because with two engineering degrees this is the first time I've heard somebody refer to infinity as "infinite amount". and news flash, the DNA helix and infinity symbol only appear the same to someone who has no idea what they're looking at :).

I have seen the prices for the diffrent level packages. If you njust barely make into ADNA like the beggining package for the price it's AWFUL. I agree with TennisCoachFLA it's is a pretty good scam wish i would have thought of it.

The issue that I have with the "sponsorship" is it reminds me of a soccer season where all the kids on all the teams get a trophy...

How's it a scam? They're not tricking you into substandard clothing, they're not advertising for something that isn't being offered. You clearly get the terms and conditions, the prices, what you get in the package, the whole shebang.

If anything buying Nike clothing at full price for example, is a scam.

$75 for a single color shirt? What a scam!!!!!

Having been at a start up that made it, I just like that this little company is trying and I don't see it as a scam cause everyone knows what they are signing up for.

Another alpha dog in addition to those mentioned, Nick Chappell wears ADNA.

Just don't like generalizations - like there are only some good players coached in a circle in Florida that matter. Very small minded.

The scam is playing on young kids insecurities and get them to coerce their parents into a CONTRACT for more clothing than they will ever need. When I researched this "offer" for my 13-year old two years ago, I concluded that the stuff may have been borderline acceptable with 4 stars. My kid was offered 3 so I "respectfully" declined.

My kid has accumulated a bunch of tournament t-shirts in his closet. We buy him a few match shirts here and there, but that's pretty much all he needs as far as I'm concerned :).

Agree with the previous poster. My player is sponsored by the clearance rack of SA and Dick's. They never ask for her ranking. We also have a long standing relationship with the local tennis shop - so if she occasionally wants the latest stuff - they give it to her at 40% off. But she practices in tournament t-shirts and cheerleader shorts so the is no need for a lot of good stuff. Cannot imagine the need for adiplayer or ADNA scams.
Shoes on the other hand is the real issue.

Are their T-shirts made of good material at least??? I like to buy a few but wanted to see if it was worth it

shirts are really light and you can barely feel it... unlike adidas shirts with too much "technology"

I like NIKE Dry fit Cotton. It is very SOFT and very Light and wicks away moisture. It gives you an advantage in long Tough matches. Right T-shirts actually can make a difference in hot conditions.

Everyone always got a trophy in my town. The kids don't really care about the score much. The scam with ADNA is that they make kids beg to their parents and their parents feel guilty into buying them for them. It's a psychological scam.
