Chardy in his current form would be a nightmare 1st round for any top player. It would be a bye-bye first round for Fed most likely (in the vein of last year Benneteau), so Fed's fans are extremely unwelcome to pop up in this thread to mock Murray (who will most certainly win the match BTW for what it's worth)

You are an awful troll, at least some of the others put some effort in =)

The trolls are the Fed fans coming to this thread exclusively to bash Murray who sure as hell doesn't deserve it. Pathetic.

What the hell are you talking about.
Some people over here just like to comment on the MATCH going on (and for your info, Fed isn't yet playing, so no need of mentioning him) - and for your info, Murray IS playing terribly.

Bwahaha I don't think there's even any Fed fans really in this thread?

Just a lot of discussion of what has been a fairly awful match (if you'd even been watching you'd know that <3)

He had a lapse in the second set. Big deal. He had an incredibly tough tournament last week, beating Nadal and Federer back to back (and the Fed one in appalling stop and go conditions) and he has a hell of a first round this week and no he's not playing "terribly" and he's 1 game from the match at 5-2.

Oh come on, you can't talk about gamesmanship when you have that man in your avatar. :)

He was chest pumping and stuff in 2007-2008, but ever since last year, he matured and is a nice guy, doesn't scream on opponent's UE-s like Muzza, he's clapping racquet for opponent's good shots and when he loses he's not a sore loser like ..some players.

Yes he is, he has been back to PUSHER MODE for most of the match.
Don't comment on a match if you're not even watching it.

And you don't have to inform me about what he did to Raf and Rog, I happen to be a fan of both of them, so I bloody well know.

I'm watching and I'm reading as well and what I'm seeing is a bunch of Fed fans having a field day spitting on Murray. Not cool.
PUSHER MODE? Give me a break! He's a little tired after what he's done last week. Completely natural.
Besides, Chardy is being treated like he's a clown, which is outlandish since he played quite well.

After winning in Toronto, Murray said that his US Open preparations have gone well, even if he lost his first match in Cincinnati.

Ironic to say the least. If it were Federer who got broken back three times and failed to serve out the match despite having MP on his own serve, you'd be creating a new "Fed is declining" thread right now.

There we go, a little more aggression at the end.

Really odd match, Murray needs to have a little think on where his heads at when that happens. At least he's still winning despite those blips, it'd be more worrying if he was having them and then going on to lose.

Poor match.

Decent 1st set from Murray, big slump in the middle of the second, did Ok in the 3rd. Haven't read the whole thread but I'm guessing it involves the usual suspects getting tore into Murray for not winning love and love with 30 aces, 50 winners and zero unforced errors.

This was so weird. Chardy is basically a UE machine and Murray is the exact opposite of that. Really strange match.

Well, I guess these are the glitches in the early rounds for the favorites.

Possibly but Murray won, so no "on the decline" thread for him :)

Yeah, it was much needed. That second set was a complete relapse to his days of old, and even if it's Chardy who he's playing, he should not allow that to happen.

Murray is of course a top player who will eventually pull it out when it's needed. But those brainfarts in the 2nd set make me ask whether he's actually with his head already in New York in stead of still in Cincy.

I'd go as far as to say there's been no real Murray bashing at all :O

Just a lot of confusion as to why he's still switching off mid match after being so good at the end of Toronto

Could be, might not be a bad thing to be looking forward to the USO already given the win last week, it is after all the big prize on the horizon. I don't think he needs to make the final again here or anything to have the right mindset going into the USO, but I do think if he lets it slide and has an early loss playing badly that that could negatively affect him. Ideally one or two good matches just to reinforce last weeks success and then what will be will be this week.

Good point. To be fair, I wouldn't have been too upset had Murray lost tonight.

Nice one!

In which case, my apologies to anyone I might have offended.

Fair point on the slump in the second.

Exactly.
There seem to be folks around who cannot distuinguish between 'bashing a player' and 'being critical of what a player is doing out there on court'. :???:

Yes, I agree. He of course already defended his winner's points in Toronto, and that's a huge confidence boost. But like you said, I'm sure he wants to get a couple of wins under his belt over here as well, even if he doesn't make it to the SF/final, it won't be such a big deal.

how come the crouds are so sparse...roddick (us number one) and murray (toronto winner last week) have had like a 10% capacity...

Its completly impossible to respect a player like Verdasco. He is worse than Monfils, Gasquet and Melzer when it comes to meltdowns. The day he will fall out of the top 10 is the day I'll start believing in modern tennis.

which is why I think the current top 10 are in the worst shape of their lives, minus Nadal.

What I've been saying all along. veronqieum just finds a way to bash Fed in every post in every single thread. We can talk about air balloons and she would still find trollish posts about Fed. She is by far the worst troll on this forum and she's a freaking teacher. God have mercy on those children.

So you automatically figure Fed fans were bashing Murray? Maybe some were Nadal fans? Djokovic fans? Besides I'm a Murray fan as well and I'll be the first to admit that Murray played horribly in some stages of the match. Your pathetic obsession with bashing Fed and his fans makes me wonder how you aren't banned yet.

Shouldn't Fed be playing tonight given he's in the same half as Rafa? I'm confused. Why did Murray AND Rafa play today if they are in different halves?

I believe every top 10 player has/is playing today. And yes, Federer is playing today after the Roddick/De Bakker match.

Yeah federers playing istomin, but I don't know when? I think the website said that it's 7:30 in cincy, so would that be in about 25 mins? I'm in the uk, so time difference is a little wierd

It starts right after the Roddick/De Bakker match. If Roddick wins his match in straights I'd assume the match should start in 30 or so minutes...
