Dubs partners at Melbourne250, going 2-0 before giving a walkover due to Sinner’s busy schedule. They then went 1-1 at Dubai. Sinner needs to keep his closer mentality despite being chums.

I expect a little mutual shakiness in a first big final for both. Also mutual are their perfect 2-0 records in ATP finals. Something has to give there. I’ll say there will be a whole lot of Sinner going on this Easter Sunday, in straight sets.

Sinner. Watched Hurkacz match last night, although he won feel like he doesn’t have firepower on his ground strokes.

@ewiewp Rublev was way off against Korda too. Sorta scraped by there on the B-game.

So they know each other’s games somewhat. Hopefully that’ll help them both settle the nerves and play decent ball. Even though a Sinner win seems likely, it’s not guaranteed if Hurtcash plays a smart, aggressive match. I still don’t think Sinner deserves this, but I haven’t even gotten round to watching any Hurtcash matches yet, so can’t get too excited about any of it.

(I still can’t fathom how tropically dense RBA is to play Sinner the way he did, too passively AGAIN, with no real adjustment either as the tide turned, AGAIN, but that’s for another thread with the RBA tragics).

I’m going to be amused at a Hurkacz win. I like both players well enough so no horse in the race. If I had to choose, I guess Sinner.

No shame in RBA losing to a prodigy like Sinner

Never seen Hurhur actually play, what's his style like? Strengths and weaknesses?
The Incredible Hurk is involved in very few one-sided matches, whether wins or losses. His size lets him cover a lot of court but he doesn’t have an overpowering serve or one particular killer stroke. The 2-handed BH is quite solid. The “doesn’t beat himself” label applies. The comebacks vs Raonic and Tsitsipas this week show the ability to stick with a game plan through rough patches. Coach Craig Boynton should be credited for establishing that problem solving attitude.

Love-40, 3-3 second set on Sinner’s serve was the inflexion point; RBA let a CC BH pass go, thinking it would sail wide but it landed one mm in. Sinner went on to hold and then eventually break at 4-5 for the set. Agut cited that point in a post-match interview but there were other swing patches, including Sinner breaking back after falling behind in the third.

Voted Sinner in two as I’ve never heard of the other guy and have missed his matches, not very good reasoning I know.
Big 2 and Fed didn’t enter but even so be quite an achievement to get his first Masters title at 19 being a late starter.

Sinner to win in straights. 6-3 6-2. I expect a lot of aces and easy holds from Jannik. I feel like his serve will really start clicking during this match, which will boost his confidence for the upcoming tournaments.

Come on. Sinner gets this easy! The only way he’s losing this is a choke. And his mental game seems to be ATG level. Sinner in 2. Or 3 if necessary.

I'm torn on who to root for. It's probably better for the game if Sinner wins, but Hurkacz might never get an opportunity like this again so it'll be sad for him if he doesn't capitalize now. A Masters title could potentially be his career highlight.
