Think Meddy might actually be vulnerable to Stef here. Tsits should like the high bounce and Meddy not on his A game. Still think Meddy will get it done though.
Tsitsipas, no matter their H2H, is always a dangerous opponent. I don't take him lightly, I just love the matchup.

I still like Fritz. He's generally losing to the top 5 guys now. He's beating most of the rest on a regular basis. He will be top 10 very soon if not now. I don't know how the ranking shape up next week.

Fritz really ought to have won that first set - not only the set point where he had a super easy shot to win it and overhit it out, but also earlier on a break point where he made the same incredibly dumb mistake. I get it, he got over-anxious but it cost him the first set for certain. Kudos to Medvedev for remaining calm and steady and crossing the finish line. Isner or Tsitsipas in the semis? We will find out in a few hours time! :)

All I know is if Isner pulls out a win this board will go bonkers and claim he isn't a tennis player for hours. I hope he loses cause I can't deal with that again.

Oh wow, and I though the worst N1 in the ATP history will never make it to the second round of any tournament he'll play.

Stef dunno the rule for reaching over the net, lol. Awkward ball landed right beyond the net and came back to his side and Isner just tapped it sideways for winner.

For anybody that dunno. It's a legal shot, but you have to wait until ball crosses back over to opponents side. Can't take it on their side before it crosses.

Anywho...5-4 for Isner. Got out of a minor trouble spot at 15-30 and deuce.

Why is the stadium always so empty in Cincinnati? Tennis is definitely no longer interesting in the USA :(
The tournament is virtually sold out and tickets are running about $100 on the secondary market. There are usually multiple matches going on at the same time so fans are spread out amongst the different courts. I was there on Sunday for practice / qualifying and the place was packed. The WSO is probably more popular than it’s ever been.

There are some light scattered showers in the area. Just enough to stop play. I live half a mile west of the stadium and it just stopped raining here.
Glad to hear it! Really hoping Isner wins the tiebreak!

If anyone has ever gone to cincy the tournament is super successful and very well attended. Wouldn’t even bother looking at main stadium crowds. That place is packed

The best part of attending the WSO is deciding which match or practice session to watch. There is always so much going on it’s hard to decide.

Nice stab/block return by Stef there. Got it back deep and Isner sends the forehand long. 7-5 in the breaker for Stef.

21 straight service holds by two of the hardest guys to break. Not even a BP.

The surprising stat is that Thinkerpas has extended an already impressive streak of winning 4 TBs, now 5, vs Big John.

Tsitsipas is looking like crap again. Can’t get a first serve to save his life and shanking second serve returns like crazy. Vintage performance.

If it reaches the decisive TB, one stat will have to give: Thinkerpas’ 5 straight TBs over John OR Big John’s impressive 6-1 record in decisive extra frames this year.

I am tired and frustrated of unsuccessfully rooting against Isner in every match he plays. On top of that, I almost have to wait until tie breaks in nearly all of his matches.
I think he is a cool guy, but I don't like him playing tennis.
Is there any possibility to declare Isner playing tennis illegal after he turns 38?

Maybe the FBI can jail him based on political leanings. That seems to be all the rage these days.
Belonging to a political position not aligned with his, I really don't mind about that, and I do accept him as a cool and nice guy.
I just want him to stop playing tennis.
