Berdych must like his chances here, he perhaps should have won last year but for a easy volley miss.

Isner would just be happy for a quater final and series win before the open I think. No idea regarding the other side of the draw it looks like its populated with mugs.

This is exactly my thinking as well. Normally, you'd think Isner would be the man to beat here but I think he might suffer a bit of a letdown after his run in Cincy. This is Berdych's title to lose, in my opinion.

The contenders are a better group than I expected. I have to go next year! I'd like to see Isner, Monfils, Querrey and Robredo do well.

Fish just lost the 2nd set to Donskoy. It would be nice if he could find some form before the US Open but it's not looking good.

I just got back home from the WSO tonight. Saw Mardy play, and except for the second set, he was looking pretty good. In his warm up though, he kept favoring his shoulder, so hope that won't become a big issue.

I also got to see some others practicing. Monfils was putting on a show for the little crowd watching, playing a fun volley drill game. He hammed it up until he was on the ground with some kind of cramp or strain.

Verdasco was kind enough to practice shirtless. :) Seemed fit and healthy.

Dolgopolov was fun to watch and seemed to be having a good practice with no apparent injuries.

Was my first time attending a professional match since I was a kid. Very cool that you can get close and watch at the practice courts.

Thanks! Keep us posted if you're going back there again.

seeds dropping left and right ... blew my mind when I saw that Seppi had been ousted in the second round by American Steve Johnson!

Dolgopolov was my favorite to watch on the practice courts in Cincinnati. He seemed like he was in a great mood and really having fun.

Under normal circumstances where match fixing and tanking weren't taking place, Querrey would win in straight sets.

No, I didn't bet it because of the reasons I stated above. Week before a major these guys fix matches and lose on purpose alot of times.

Sam Q squeaks it out 12-10 in a 3rd set breaker!

Plays winner of Berankis and Batista Agut. Definitely has a chance to advance there.

That would be Berankis who straight-setted his opponent again. Nice set of wins for him vs higher ranked guys but he needs a couple more to regain points dropping off from his '12 HC swing (finals in LA250). He has dropped into the 120's from the 60's. I guess he's direct into USO or he would be up in Flushing now for the qualies.

Does anyone have a link to share for the direct acceptance USO list? Thanks!

Semifinals are set:

[6]Sam Querrey vs [9]Jurgen Melzer

[15]Gael Monfils vs [10]Alexandr Dolgopolov

Who do you guys like? I like Melzer over Querrey and Monfils over Dolgopolov.

I want Querrey to win, but I'm not so sure that he will. Either way, a decent result for him considering the mediocre results as of late, and a good bit of match practice and momentum going into the open.

I like Monfils to advance as well.
