Michelsen was 5-2 40-0 up on Thompson and loses the set.

Would think the Aussie hope gets it from here after that choke by the American.

What would be a tough draw for Djokovic in this rinkydink tournament when Sinner and Alcaraz are not playing and neither are the other top players who are in the United Cup. The #2 seed is Dimitrov!
True - but even with the players that entered, I could have imagined a tougher draw. Jarry or Lehecka in an early round, for example.

Nick’s got some soul searching to do I think. Losing the second round of a friggin’ ATP250 dubbs tournament when you have Novak GOATovic as a partner is not a good start.
Nick did fine but Djokovic seemed nervous at the end and choked with the double fault when they basically had the match.

Jarry is #35 and Lehecka is #28. If Djokovic is worried about playing players like that, he might as well retire.
I was hardly saying he should be worried about playing them, but they are the kind of players he could lose to on an off day, I feel. I find it hard to see him losing against La Monf in any circumstances, but maybe I'll be proved wrong!

Obviously he starts as favourite against each player in the draw, but he lost to Popyrin in the US Open who was ranked 28 so ...

I unexpectedly have a month of TC since today I got Sling for a month for college football playoffs and added the sports plus package which was offset by the $10 off the base package. I thought I'd have to wait until the start of AO to watch tennis this season (when I get a month of ESPN+). So this has been great. Hope they show some of Perricard-Tiafoe later tonight.

Djokovic trying to find timing on his serve early on.

An incredible 72 big titles on the court between the two.

Brisbane could be #100 for Djokovic if he wins this thing.

Funnily, the 2015 Brisbane final was where Federer won his 1000th tour match.

Something special about my city perhaps coming? ;)

Dream draw for Djokovic. Monfils up next whom he has not lost to in 19 meetings and who is older than him. Then Opelka - whom he has never played, but who has no weapons to hurt him given what Djokovic does to big servers - or Arnaldi. Seeded to meet Tiafoe, who again doesn't match up great to Djokovic and anyway might lose to Mpetchi Perricard again.

And possibly Dimitrov in the final, which is almost another Monfils situation. Of course, anything can happen, but if Djokovic is playing well, he really should win this title.
Tiafoe does indeed lose. Djokovic is now guaranteed not to face a seed until the final. Still, a SF against GMP or Mensik could be more interesting than one against Tiafoe. It will depend on how they deal with the occasion.

Djokovic is already up a break against Monfils.

These Sinner TV ads for the invisible cream are cracking me up. Imagine being the sponsor who paid Sinner to endorse your sunscreen cream and then 6 months later he gets pinched for clostebol lol.

Djokovic has looked good so far this week. Solid tennis and he’s moving well. He’s in to the quarters.

Tiafoe out which is a shame for him as he had a chance to go deep this week.

Opelka with a good win against Analdi.

From Paris to Brisbane, GMP with another win over Tiafoe.
I thought Tiafoe played pretty good, if not spectacular. Like anyone playing a huge server, knowing tiebreaks are likely, I think the missed break points, missed opportunities to get up break point from 30-30 or 40-40 due to aces or huge serves that resulted in weak returns frustrated Tiafoe more and more - plus he starts pressing. Crazy thing is he came back from two mini-break points down early in the second set tiebreak and then recovered another mini-break point near the end before losing. But soon as he was back on serve near the end of the tiebreak, MGP crushed a return to win a point.

Will be very interesting to see how MGP does this year. It's not like he's unbeatable, but he's getting a feel for his game and he'll pull some upsets and frustrate people and will be a difficult out when he's on. The commentators were joking last night that he'll be seeded at the AO and that the other players should be VERY happy about that since he won't be floating in the draw and playing a seed in the first two rounds.

He has big chance to win here itself.

Oh no. Michelson had a similar meltdown last year against Thompson in Los Cabos. Hopefully, it’s just a matchup issue and not an overall tendency. The Aussie is a tough competitor.
He was cruising in the Next Gen ATP final match he lost (the semi) as well, and has had this problem quite a few times in the past. I think it's a real issue for him.

Jabeur and Andreeva just played an absurd point that looked like it was going to be over about four times - multiple lobs, multiple drop shots and ends with Jabeur hitting a lunge volley cross court winner from mid court lol.
