Are you saying he tanked? Is one win enough for a tuneup especially when he was going for his 100th title? I think he just got outplayed and his level was similar to what it was for most of last year where he was vulnerable to opponents playing free and fearlessly. His current game is not scaring anybody.

Not at all, he certainly was not tanking, but top players always pace themselves deliberately, especially as they advance in age, and tend to peak during the big tournaments(slams), especially in the second week. We've seen this pattern throughout the history of tennis. That doesn't mean these top players tanked. On the other hand, it may be the case Opelka peaked this week, who knows? Let's see if he can sustain good performances and results in AO. I agree Novak's level has dropped, there's no doubt about it, and less than 100% from him can be beaten by more players these days.

Opelka is playing so well now. I think Mensik is also playing at high level, so the final will be interesting.

What happened to Grigor's hip? I just watched the highlights and didn't really understand what caused the injury.

I watched the highlights and Opelka played great again. Great serving and ball striking on both wings. In his first final against since 2022. He did so well after a long-term injury to comeback strong.

A great win for Lehecka too. He played great and looks good as he builds form for Melbourne. An unfortunate hip injury for dimitrov and I hope it not serious and he fine for Australian open and rest of the year.

It’s his groin actually but obviously affect his hips too. He’s been having groin problems since Wimbledon last year
Dimitrov appears to have reached the point of his athletic career at which some fragility sets in and acute conditions easily can become chronic ones. While 33.5 is not super-old for a tennis player these days, it's old enough, since everyone is different.

I’ve been saying this since he turned 30, start to shorten the point more and play attacking tennis (serve/volley, chip&charge) It would be benefit him in the long run if he wants to play for another 1.5 years till 35. Yes he’s athletic but Father Time will drain you out physically (Murray, Wawrinka, Federer, Nadal)

For those who hate servefest, yeah it may suck. I don't mind watching these matches once in a while.

Emphasis on once in a while, for me. But some variety is great for the sport.

I never really cheered for Isner or Kevin Anderson, but Karlovic was ok.

Isner was slow and predictable, so I understand why people didn't like him that much as a player. Anderson was much more athletic, but still boring.

I used to see Opelka as somewhat of a Isner-type player, but now I'm open to the idea that he could evolve into somewhat of a Delpo-type. He seems a little more athletic than Delpo even if being taller. We'll see. If he proves himself on a slam stage, like consistent QF/SF appearances, I definitely would believe in him. Lehecka has been one of the young guys on my radar and it's good to see him in the final.

Lehecka wins the title by back to back retirements from his opponent.

Dimitrov retired in the SF while down 4-6 4-4.
Opelka retired in the Final while down 1-4.

Shame it ended this way.

Points to note for next time:

- Limit to 1 servebot per ATP250
- Retire before the final instead of ripping people off
- Pay more for Alcaraz or Sinner to play

Poor opelka. Probably just two big and tall to stay healthy. Dr ivo did remarkably well to last as long as he did.

Congrats to Cash/Glasspool on taking the Brisbane title over Lehecka/Mensik after ousting the top seeded Mektic/Venus earlier in the week.
