Yes, which is why I said I hope he keeps developing. You have to admit, though, that winning that tournament was a great step for the teenager.
Yes, it was a big result for sure. But some of us already took notice last year during this same swing, when he had a nice run.

He also didn't face any top tier players (aside from some good Argentine clay courters), and seemed to squeak through a few of his matches, which might have gone the other way.

I think he is very good for sure, but far from showing he is top 10 material.

In winning the 2025 Argentina Open, Fonseca becomes:

1. The 2nd player this season to win his maiden ATP title (after Alexandre Muller).
2. The 2nd Brazilian player to win the title in Buenos Aires (after Kuerten in 2001).
3. The 10th youngest player on the ATP tour to win a title since 1990.
4. The youngest player from South America to win an ATP title since 1990.
Looking good! Let's see if he can catch fire here. I'd love for him to bag back to back titles with a win in his hometown!

Guess it didn't happen! See below...

Just gonna quote myself here. Everything broke his way in Argentina, with all the tight matches coming out in his favor. When things swing the other way...

Fair enough. Still good on him that he took advantage. Hopefully he doesn't let the early loss this week get to him and he goes on to have a big season.
