At the 2025 Moselle Open, Felix Auger-Aliassime will try his best to lock up the remaining slot in Torino, while Alexander Bublik will take over as the top seed in the bottom half of the draw.

Other seeds include Flavio Cobolli and Arthur Rinderknech. Luca van Assche and Matteo Berrettini along with Hugo Gaston also feature.

Who wins in Metz?

Dang, first match today starts at 11 pm my time. It's really annoying that so many tennis matches are being played in Europe throughout the year (Clay - RG, Italy, Spain, etc, Grass - Wimby, halle, mallorca, etc Indoors - Europe) and it's tough for me to watch matches live as I would be sleeping when they play.

Don't know if anyone is watching Sonega-Choinski but Choinski really had his chances this match. He just makes too many random unforced errors. His biggest weakness probably is his return of serve. He misses way too many of those after he gets his racket on the ball.

Edit: His crosscourt forehand goes long way too often

I love the guy, but Mpetshi really doesn't have much going for him outside of his serve. It feels like he can easily get picked apart from the baseline by any top 300 player with a decent baseline game.

why shouldn't the most matches be played in Europe? they got better players and more tennis fans

After Basel I read and heard a lot about how he is more than a serve bot. When watching tennis live I also often suffer from overvaluation bias, because the players are just so impressive up close. However a quick glance at the stats usually cures most of my delusions.

Shoutout to Sonny, what a fighter. I understand the logic of Volandri, but he will likely be missed at the Davis Cup.

He's the new Karlovic. He can get hot for a week here and there and blast through a tournament with an unplayable serve, but most of the time succumbs to poor movement and a non-existent return game.

I just want to add *on a (very) fast indoor hardcourt, agree fully with the rest.

In the third of today’s three matches, I find myself rooting for the loser. Bublik closes his season with a hard-fought defeat at the hands of an Ukrainian ranked outside the top 200.

Norrie (!) of all people is the only seed that has made it to the QF.

His season might not be over yet if he goes as alternate to Milan.

Learner Tien comes back from a set down yet again to take out Berrettini, and will play Sachko or Tabur (?)
in the semifinals. Go, Learner!

Semifinal lineup at Metz:

Norrie v. Sonego
Sachko v. Tien

Tien is definitely looking leaner and fitter to me. He's getting good depth and stick on his second serve,
and I love the angles he can come up with.

As I’ve said before, this clown can lose to anyone at anytime and it’s never surprising. He’s a tough one for the TACP investigators to keep tabs on.

was nice to see sachko make it this far. seems like a nice guy but just got a breadstick from tien. shaping up to be an all-lefty final. will be rooting for tien to put norrie away. amazing year for this junior!

edit: watched a few rallies and not a fan of Sachko's BH. Needs some work in that department. Pretty strange for an Eastern-European to not have a strong BH wing.

Heartbreaking for Norrie - a 2nd Metz RU result in a row. He should continue to take heart from his recent return to form though.

What a week for Tien who's rewarded with his first ATP title after finishing RU to Sinner in Beijing recently.

Looking back at the 2024 ATP Next Gen Finals - Fonseca and Tien have both risen up the ranks to #24 and #31 respectively with 2 titles for Fonseca (1 at 500 and 1 at 250 level) and 1 title for Tien (1 at 250 level). Fonseca had the more consistent major results - a mix of 3R and 2R finishes but Tien went deepest with a 4R at the AO.

Looking forward to seeing both these guys hopefully seeded at all the majors next year.

Yah man, well said. Ditto to all you say. I'm not a fan of Norrie's game or demeanour, but respect his efforts to play as well as he can. Good to see him in better form.

I'm keen on the youngsters finding their consistency and doing well, and these 2 dudes are steadily finding their way. Pleased that Tien has won a title too this year - Mensik / Fonseca / Diallo having done so too. Joining you in looking forward to their further endeavours.

For Tien to come back from 1-5 down in the final-set TB showed some real fortitude.
Got a good feeling about this guy.

Happy to see Learner get his first, and in what a fitting fashion to do it. Coming from 5-1 down in the TB after letting a big lead slip away was a testament to his mental strength.

A shame we have to see Fonseca be the future instead of this guy, he’s so much more likable.

By contrast, an unforgiveable piece of muggery from Norrie. You do NOT lose a breaker from 5-1 up unless you've gone mentally AWOL.
