I don't know if it's the racquet or not, but Davydenko is serving consistently over 190kph and even in the low 200's on first serve. And not just trying to bomb it, it's often very well placed. Too bad he isn't the player he used to be, but there still are good leftovers: he isn't going down easily against Tsonga.

Yesterday I finded strange that to get in the main draw of the Masters you have to play two matches and at this kind of 250 event you have to play three matches :) I know that the Masters have a bigger draw but do they get more than 4 guys from the qualifications?

And it was fun for 5 minutes. Gulbis serves from a tree; too bad he's too often subject to mental bleeping.

Struff isn't doing anything awesome, but he's very solid and plays the right shots. He takes his chances, but "safe" chances: he isn't going for impossibly close to the lines shots, just the right places at the right time. It seems the result of the first set between him and Tsonga will be decided with a tie-break. I heard from the commentators that this will be his first full season on the ATP World Tour.

First set Tsonga 7-6[4]. Both him and Struff were very solid; it's only natural we've got to see a tie-break at the end of the first set. One big return among the ones he missed allowed the Frenchman to get a mini-break and hold it until the rest of the breaker.

And in the following game, Struff saves 3BP but still confirms the break lead. EDIT: Which is followed by a love game from Tsonga.
