He has not beaten a player ranked above him. What do you mean?
He was so bad for so long that now him beating players below ranked is an achievement?
I mean yes, his level was not even top 50 last 6 months. Also, the eye test is handsomely passed, have you watched any of his matches this week? Plus there's a new racket in there so kinda gives the hope its not a random good week.

I watched yesterday's match and one with Medjedovic in Qatar.

Heh, heh - only Tsitsipas and 'other' remaining - testament to how expectations can be awry. Good efforts from Griekspoor & Halys to get to the sf, but pleased to see ST and FAA finding form. Particularly like their respective more grounded current demeanour. Perhaps that is the key ...
Looking forward to the final.

Look up highlights its worth it even if you're not a fan. Here's 9 BH winners from today, its hard to not take it somewhat seriously. This is the best its been since 2021 if not even better (I know it can all change again but this week...wow)

I am a tsitsipas fan. Watching this he looks good but not enough yet.

Tsitsipas is looking too clean today and Felix hands over the set with another unforced error. Clean it, up!

FAA, all the way!

Felix should still be happy with his performance. Not seeing a lot of those wild misses he was hitting in 2024, he's missing sometimes but it's close.

And all credit to Stef who is just putting everything together, serve + forehand + backhand drive. Even reading how Felix is going to his backhand on serve. Good stuff.

MAWR!

Felix gets to deuce from 40-love on Stef's serve. He wishes to oblige, but Stef has the serve to say, "No mas".

Felix smacks a forehand return, and Tsitsipas throws back at him with even more pace. Violent tennis.

The pressure comes back to bite, Felix. Three groundstrokes long under the force of the combined Tsitsipas fire.

Stef will serve for his first 500.

Congrats Tsitsipas, first 500 title, back in the top 10, and a backhand on fire.

Does Tsitsi live in Dubai? Or just visits Badosa as she lives there? I wonder if this is a turning point for him or whether he is just super comfortable there and on the courts? I hope he one day realises his full potential and wins RG.

Well done Stef. A joy to watch this kind of tennis
Nice Final. FAA also back on track. Good for the sport
My take too, man. The doldrums hopefully put behind ST, and more great tennis to come. For now, his first 500 tournament win ( lost in Dubai to Roger & Novak before) and he's back in the top 10 again. Congratulations to the dude for all of this, but mostly for playing such superb tennis again.
FAA has had a wonderful season to date and played well at times in the final. He was beaten by the better player on the day, but will know that this was no walk-over and he gave ST plenty to think about. Good job to put up an entertaining final.

I concur, Felix used to spray he's playing a ton better than before. will be back in the top 10-15 very soon I think.

Like clockwork...but seriously, this is pretty big for Tsitsipas. He will be a threat during the Sunshine Double.
I don't think he's a serious threat to win either of them (even at his best he was terrible there), but QF or SF runs aren't out of the question with how he's playing this week. And that would be a big improvement.

Honestly, Tsitsipas's level after the 2023 Australian Open was out of keeping with the player admired between 2019 and 2022.
He will have many defects but if he recovers his standard level of that period the top 5 is rightfully his.
He is too solid a player to remain on the sidelines for too long.
Obviously by solid I mean the ranking range it has occupied in the last 12 months.

Wow the curse of 500 has been lifted. @Jonas78 see he has another outdoor record. I think you me @Subway Tennis or @Purestriker someone was arguing who is better tsitsipas or Tsonga
Title-wise there is ofc no doubt Tsits is ahead, but level of play is something else. Tsonga faced way tougher competition. How are you going to win when you face peak-Nadal on clay, peak-Fed on grass/fast HC, and Nole on slow/medium HC? Tsits could forget about those MCs if he was born in 85 like Tsonga

Tennis needs Tsitsipas playing well and winning again. Him winning today means more than if FAA had won IMO, the more players getting their winning form back, the better, especially when they are actual contenders for slams.

Good to see Tsitsipas finally win a 500.
