About the draw from the website:

Spanish number one of the world Rafael Nadal will be playing against Italian Simone Bolelli in the first round of the 36th ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament. Rafael Nadal will play his first singles match Wednesday night at 19.30 hrs.

Andy Murray will play his openinground on Tuesday night at 19.30 hrs against Croatian Ivan Ljubicic, the losing finalist of the 2005 and 2007 editions in Ahoy Rotterdam.

The Dutch players in the main draw of the tournament face a tough challenge. Jesse Huta Galung is playing against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, while Thiemo de Bakker faces Italian Andreas Seppi in the first round.

“A nice draw”, was 23 years old Huta Galungs first response. “I know Tsonga from the youth circuit, we are of the same age. Tsonga is certainly no stranger for me. I have played against him a number of times in the futures. In fact he is a good friend of mine, but in any case I will have to play my best against him. You know what his game is like. Tsonga is very athletic with lots of power.”

Last years winner Michael Llodra faces a challenge when he is meeting Croatian servicecanon Ivo Karlovic. Another interesting matchup in the first round is the all-Russian match between Nikolay Davydenko and Igor Andreev.

The ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament starts on Monday February 9th.

Wow, I was one step slower than you and made another post.
I pick Murray.

I'm looking forward to Gasquet/Murray. Hope Gasquet gets past Soderling.

A Tsonga/Nadal meeting could also be fun after they avoided each other at AusOpen.

Indoor hard court.

Can't imagine anyone knocking Nadal out of it
Even if he meets Murray in the final.

I don't think Nadal will win this at all. He probably has very little desire, doesn't need the points, and has nothing to prove. I think going out in the first round or two would be best here.

Okay, so some searching reveals that at last report Rotterdam is Greenset and considered "hardcourt" (indoors). Since there are, I think, 8 types of Greenset, does anyone know with authority exactly what surface this would be? The center appears to be a multipurpose facility, so I am unconvinced that they play tennis on a permanently paved surface. If it is actually Greenset Confort, a form of matting, that would make more sense to me.

Also, the references for Greenset at Rotterdam stop at 2003, which suggests the surface may have actually been changed recently. Anybody REALLY know?

Very tough call, great line up in Rotterdam. Heart says go Tsonga, Berdych, Ancic, Gasquet and Youzhny

I'm picking Murray. He is going to be fresh, and he'll want to put right the loss at the AO.

I hope Murray i would love to see more from this guy in 09, amazing player, and I am sick of Nadal and Roger winning everything.

Wait a minit, wait a minit. You are not setting up an excuse for him if he loses?

Doubles sure has a strong field and three top ten players are in it: Simon, Murray and Nadal. That would be great to watch.

Nadal plays every match 100%, unless he feels like he needs 2 pull out or retire he will chase every ball

Surprised to see Tsonga with so few votes. Remember, he won Paris MS indoors.

yeah, but he's also in today's Johannesburg final so he might be tired and has a long trip ahead of him too.I think Murray will get this one, though I really hope for Birdman.:)
btw best field I have seen for years in Rotterdam!

There's waaay too much support for Murray on this thread for my liking!

Heart says Murray, head and poll says Rafa.

Murray certainly seems to be the favorite, but I think the winner will be a surprise.

I picked Davy, but I obviously have no clue how he'll be after his injury.

He has had some kind of recurring anckle problems since last October. It goes away with some rest, thats why he was in the Masters, but then it comes back. So he was going to go to Moscow to have it checked out. Since he is in the tournament, sounds as if its O.K. but don't know if its a permanent fix or the same old story. We will see soon.

It's a heel injury, but yeah, it continues to bother him.

Four of the top ten players are entered, plus Tsonga, #12, (if I figure it right) and Ferrer, #14. Simon is defending 270 points for his SF last year. Oddly enough, Nadal has 50 points from this tournament for his total points. I say odd, because he is #1 and yet 50 lousy points still count. Weird.

I don't expect too much from Nadal here. I think he shouldn't play this tournament in first place especially after the great effort he put in the AO but Nadal is all heart and he always wants to play.
I don't know how much he practiced in the last week after the long trip and having some rest.
The conditions in Rotterdam are also different than in Australia: indoor, lower bouncing and probably a little faster. Let's see how he adapts to these conditions in so few days. Berdych in 2nd round would be really tough on this surface, he is in good form again as we saw in the AO so nothing would surprise me there.
I think this indoor tourney between the AO and Indian Wells makes no sense in Nadal's schedule. If he can gain some ranking points, good. If he can't, he will be fresher for the bigger and more important events.

It`s hard to know how motivated Nadal will be here in Rotterdam and Dubai considering it will be a tough schedule next month with Masters events and Davis Cup.

Always a nice tournament, going to watch some tennis there on thursday :)

I think either Nadal or Murray will win it, but the last couple of years we've seen more dark horse victories over favourites' :-|

Shame the stream doesn't work (for me either).. it worked fine last year.

Nice to meet you, Pro Staff Pete :)

Got a question for you:
Is it "Netherlands" or "The Netherlands"
or does anybody care?

also ....... youre there, but the stream isn't working for you too? ..... maybe that means there's a technical problem that will be repaired soon! :D
