If it's done right, Delpo should win for comeback IMO. Federer cannot win the sportsmanship award this year. He has enough now, and he played less than half the year. And I think Pouille or Zverev should get most improved.

Del-Potro is the clear comeback winner.

Most improved is actually tough. Dan Evans has improved a lot.

The sportsmanship award is utterly farcical - they're not even bothering to think outside of the big 4 - as if lower-ranked players couldn't possibly display good sportsmanship. And Federer hasn't even been on tour half the year.

Lol at Federer getting nominated considering he's been out of the game since July and has only played 7 tournaments and yet #1 Novak didn't get a nomination.

Most improved has to go to Pouille. Whilst Zverev had a decent year, he didn't do much at slams whilst Pouille reached back to back QF with big wins at Wimbledon and the US Open.

The comeback players list is quite weak. Honestly, Florian Mayer hasn't done much since winning his ATP500 and is back playing challengers I believe and I don't even know what Bennetau did. Probably DelPo, Karlovic never left the top 30 or 40 I believe so hardly a comeback and while he is 37 and got back to the top 20 and won 2 titles, he has no top 10 wins for the year I believe. Compare it to DelPo who has wins over Murray, Novak and Stan... Probably DelPo.

Zverev should win since he is only 19 and claimed many high profile scalps this year. Either him or Thiem for reaching SF at RG.

I agree with you re: Federer, but this makes no sense at all. Novak being #1 has nothing to do with sportsmanship. He's known for smashing racquets and ripping shirts. Not only that, the stunt he pulled against Wawrinka in the USO final was a complete disgrace. Novak doesn't deserve a nomination so the players got that part right anyway.

Have you ever seen nadal before the coin flip? Far from a sportsman

Tell me about it! I remember a little girl in a wheelchair was waiting for Rafa to finish his ritual of positioning his bottles, toweling off, yanking on his junk and shorts, and in general being in his own little world! I've never cared for the guy; even at 15! He's been a spoiled brat and jerk since the beginning; self-entitled punk! :p ;)

To his credit, Andy Murray sticks his neck out for female players. That's pretty decent sportsmanship there. On court though he's still a nut.

Ah, so there's a popularity contest more than anything, once again. Neither of these guys, however much appreciated by me, should've been nominated at all.
How about Dimitrov, comforting the ball boy he hit just recently, just to name one of them?
I get it - don't include any candidate not known to the general public, eh, ATP?

Most Improved Player of the Year:
-Dominic Thiem
-Lucas Pouille
-Alexander Zverev
-Daniel Evans

Decent list, but haven't Zverev and Thiem not already made their strides forward during 2015?

Comeback Player of the Year:
-Julien Benneteau
-Juan Martín del Potro
-Ivo Karlovic
-Florian Mayer

Now that's quite hilarious, seeing all of these veterans in that list (bar Del Potro). THIS is the best list the ATP could come up with??? :D
Should be Del Potro, no discussion here.

Do find it quite funny that Federer can still manage to get nominated for Edberg Award after playing less than half the season....then again is sportsmanship award so don't necessarily have to play entire season.

Still not as amusing as when Murray won SPOTY Award few years back...pretty good for a guy with supposedly no personality!

Haha if you think that of Nadal, you must think far worse of Djokovic who yells at ball kids, rips shirts between points and tells the paying crowd to suck his little one.

Don't get the logic behind nominating Nadal and leaving Djokovic out. They're both at par in terms of being unsportsmanlike. Disgusting. I definitely see ulterior motives at work here.

Can't believe Del Potro isn't in there. Ugh. And Murray?! What is WRONG with these people? Yuck.

I guess winning Wimbledon, Olympic Gold, a couple Masters, and being in finals of all 4 majors may have done it for some! :p ;)

If anyone can recall a year when Federer wasn't nominated for both the sportsmanship and the fan favourite awards I'd be grateful if you could let me know.

Dan Evans is a journey man and is too old for a most improved award. If Federer wins the award this year it will be confirmation that it's rigged along with the fans' favourite award.

People crying over Federer's nomination is hilarious. Yes he doesn't deserve to be there imo but it is voted for by other players and nobody else; Moet and Chandon are not even sponsors of the thing- they simply present the award so they have 0 affect. Players probably voted for him because they didn't know who else to choose.

@Hitman, still awaiting your thoughts on the Earths Mightiest Warrior's sudden decline. Will he be back ? Why the sudden change ? Why does he want to get rid of Becker ? Should he get rid of him ?

I will be sharing my thoughts today with you at some point. ;)

Who is the adjudicator? I don't trust the ATP; they could announce any winner they want who is to know?

Do you honestly they would rig some meaningless award lmao. Like I said he's probably only voted for because there is nobody else.
It's all marketing of one player by making him look as if he is a class of his own. Rafa replaced Fed as the fans' favourite years ago, but Fed has won it for 12 years on the trot.

If you genuinely believe that the governing body of mens tennis would rig a meaningless award, then you probably need to re-evaluate your life. Not everything is a conspiracy against Rafa, perhaps Federer is just popular, who knows.

The ATP is guilty of enforcing the TV just to get at one player. I wouldn't put anything past them. They are only people after all. Look at the way they are bowing and scraping to Kyrgios when he cares not one jot about their code of conduct. Another player would have been more severely punished.
