Welcome back Hyeon Chung!
I won't expect too much too soon but hopefully he stays injury free and can be playing some decent tennis before year end. Seriously, praying there are no more injuries for this guy.

The match ends in a draw, because both players retired. Sorry, couldn't help it. :p

First meeting between the two. The bookmaker is favoring Andy by a big margin.

Because Chung has only played 2 HC challengers this year and lost in R1 both times. Comparatively Murray won a challenger on clay the other month and he's a 2x Wimbledon champ whereas Chung has only played at Wimbledon once (in 2015) and lost in R1.

Yeah, Chung is returning from a very lengthy injury break and trying to find some match form still. Andy in the meanwhile has been playing even some top 50 level tennis here and there.

Yeah, I know that. The odds is as expected. No surprise there. The surprise will be if Chung can score a convincing win.

Well I'm watching and the first thing that strikes me is that Chung has adopted a very strange abbreviated service motion since I last saw him play. I imagine it can only be down to injury. Odd to watch a grass match smack in the middle of RG!

He's also using the 2018 Yonex EZone PJ (in green) - he used to use a different Yonex so I wonder if that's also injury prevention related.

Due to his chronical back injury, he decided to change his serve motions anyway.

Chung lost 3 and 2. Andy's too consistent for Chung. Also, Chung still looked a little slow compared to his pre-injury game. Grass is also not Chung's best surface.
At this point, this year will just be about getting match fitness and sharpness back. He should be aiming to be playing as close to his best by AO if that's even possible after the injury spells.

Please note that in this tournament Ryan Peniston has just defeated Jiri Vesely 6-4 6-2.

Vesely is Djokovic nemesis as well, he won 2 of their 3 meetings.

I think one can tell how comfortable Andy was on grass during that match. He looked so relaxed and unhurried, compared to Chung. Of course it might have something to do with Chung not in full form, yet.

But, I can see how Andy's defense, defense, sudden attack style could be effective and problematic for many players. Miss him on the tour. Hopefully he does well at Wimbledon.

We've missed out on this blockbuster matchup as each has taken turns being injured the last 5-6 years. Wait no more!
Bro' Chung made 1 semi-slam, not even 4th Rd at any others. Not even 1 career title. So, I gotta ask what kind of joke hype is this?
It was his unicorn moment. A tennis anomaly run like Iva Majoli or Gaudio except he got bounced in the semis.

~ Djokovic injured in 2018
Djokovic returned from his six-month injury hiatus since 2017 Wimbledon Championships at the Tie Break Tens event where he played a tune-up for the 2018 Australian Open. He was defeated by Lleyton Hewitt in his first match, 10–6.
Then Cheung beat a man at 70% of his norm in Melbourne.

This match is the equivalent of a Murray-Sandgren match, except Sandgren has "1" title to his credit and reached 4R of another major.
