djokovic is having some trouble against andreev who is playing really really good...

i think he's exxagerating too much though avoiding his backhand...and that has been costing him some points... lets see the third set

i have to support the portuguese Frederico Gil... Kudos to him... he almost beat Benneteau last week... and he's now ahead 6-1 4-2 against Heraldo... Forçaaa GIL !

I tend to say Djokovic. He's been in great form lately. I have no idea how he will do during the clay season but he could win another title.
Gasquet is also good on clay,so a match between the two would be really interesting.

Anybody know where Nalbandian is? He's won a title in this week the last two years and now it doesn't look like he's defending the points.

Side note: Good win for Sam Querry over Horna on clay.

He was going to defend the points at Estoril (he won it last year) but WRC is on Argentina right now WRC I mean World Rally Championships... and he said he's a big aficionado of it so he rather stayed in argentina to watch the championship... that was his explanation

That's a really professional thing to do.

Wow, what a joke. I hope he's not feeling a 100% and needs some time off. If he's just skipping a week to watch car racing I'll be rooting against him for a while.

there were no physical problems with him what so ever... he actually said it...since the estoril open was scheduled for the same weekend as the WRC he would stay in Argentina to watch the car racing...eheh

Maybe he has plans of winning the RG so he doesn't care about defending the Estoril points :p

Kudos to Nalbandian for doing what he wants to do and enjoying life.

As a side note, can you imagine the uproar this board would be in if Serena announced that she was going to skip a tournament because she had something else to do?

If Gonzalez continues to lose matches like this he will soon drop out of the top 10. I still don't know how come he's still number 6 considering he hasn't won much lately.

It's simply because he has very few points to defend in this period so he doesn't lose any important amount of points.

Thats a good point.

Hey, does everybody see Sam Querry handing it to Juan Monaco?

Querry chokes again. Same thing he did against Haas in Houston. win 1st set, let down in 2nd, fall apart at the end of 3rd.

ok... I know now some more details about Nalbandian skipping Estoril Open... it seems he owns one of the rally teams... so as the owner he had to stay there for the sponsors etc...for the team...

That match was absolutely horrendous. Both Calleri and Del Potro played horrible. But it was probably that way cause Juan Martin had a respiratory problem.

Spadea takes out the Daveydenko conqueror, Patience. Best american on clay so far this year.

Wow, and clay is supposed to be Davydenko's best surface. He's been having a bad time this year, but anyways, good for Spadea, his wins are impressive. The only other American even playing on clay (not sure about qualifiers) is Querrey.

I'd say, thinking about it, that indoor carpet is actually Davydenko's best surface. He's just like Nalbandian, he plays good on it ;)
