I just realized that Isner actually had a shot at qualifying here . He had a SP in the first set, if he converted and beat Zverev in straight sets he'd probably gone through (unless Cilic beat Djokovic).

Night matches are prime time. Djokovic-Cilic was always going last regardless because Djokovic is the big draw. They wouldn’t put Djokovic on at 2:00 on a Friday when most people are working.

True. So they definitely weren’t doing it twice. Especially not on a Friday.

My feeling is that most people either won’t know or won’t care that the match means nothing. Most of them only care about seeing tennis and specifically Djokovic.
