ATP finals doubles

I'm disappointed that Kubler/hijikata made it in. They only had 180 points since the Aussie open, but made it bc they didn't fall to 20th. I predict they're lucky if they win a set here in the indoor setting.

Meanwhile, the 8th team in the rankings, lammons/withrow won 3 or 4 tournaments this year and got bumped.

Ram/Salisbury seem to be peaking at the right time, after a terrible start to the year.

Why did Lammons/Withrow get bumped if they were 8th

(I know little about how doubles rankings work)

Thanks

Grand slam winners are automatically in as long as they're one of the top 20 teams.

The Aussie team fell to 17th bc they had the 2000 points from winning the AO, but just 180 the rest of the year.

Thanks.

But it's kind of as hame that the ATP elevates one *non-ATP* event so much.

I was wrong: the Aussies got a set 7-5 off of ram/Salisbury. Then, they got a bread stick in the second set and lost the match tiebreaker 2-10. Didn't watch the match, but watched the highlights. Didn't see the Aussies s/v once. Not going to get it done vs. the best dubs teams in the world w this strategy, as long as they don't use fluffy AO balls on one of the slowest hardcourts on tour.

Meanwhile, koolhof/skupski got bounced, which is surprising, given the year they had. The remaining teams in the semis are interchangeable on how good they are. They're all so good, any team can win. 3/4 will take over #1 for the year w a win. Only ram/Salisbury cannot, given their dismal start, but they're peaking at the right time (8 match win streak).

Dodig/Krajicek will lose the #1 year end ranking if ram/Salisbury don't win, since they didn't make the semis. Had match points, but lost 13-15 in the match tiebreak vs Gonzalez/vasselin. Super entertaining tiebreak to watch. Tennistv replays are awesome.

Surprised Ram/Salisbury take out Koolhof/Skupski.

Apparently Koolhof and Skupski are splitting up after this event for some reason. No-one seems sure why but maybe there is some strain between them which has affected their level of play?

Can’t watch right now but see physio has been called. What’s happening?
I watched the first set. Tight tiebreaker. Ram called the physio bc he was having some issues w his abdominals. Served first, right after to start the second. Full replay isn't available, yet, but watched the highlights. Tight match tiebreak. Good stuff!

That's crazy, considering they were #2 in the world coming into this tournament and won a grand slam this year. Out of all the teams, I think they were the team to beat all year long. Koolhof was one of the best players this year IMO. Maybe he's going to partner Pavic, Mektic, Heliovaara, or another Dutch player (middlekoop or haase) next year bc of the Olympics. Skupski could partner Glasspool, Patten, or Cash.

Ram/Salisbury won 10 matches in a row to end the year. Perfect time to get hot. Glad they didn't split up mid year. Same w granollers/zeballos.

Dodig/Krajicek will finish year end #1.

Looking forward to seeing some new matchups. Lots of potential partners floating around.

For the second consecutive year, the winningest player on the atp tour (most matches won) in the post US Open stretch. Last year won 7 challengers in that stretch. This year in same stretch, won 4 challengers and twice reached 250 finals, playing with 4 different partners.
