Draw pretty much ensures that Djokovic wins it easy if he tops his group.
FAA will top his group and post that Djokovic FAA finals with Djokovic to win in a tight 3 setter!

How many times did he actually play ATP Finals? He only has 20 match wins in the event!
At the Indoor ATP Finals-
Nadal beat Djokovic x2
Nadal beat Wawrinka x2
Nadal beat Murray x2
Nadal beat Tsitsipas x2
Nadal beat Roddick
Nadal beat Federer
Nadal beat Medvedev
Nadal beat Rublev
Also Nadal has 2 Indoor Hardcourt wins over ATP Finals Champion Dimitrov (at Rotterdam and Basel).
And Nadal beat Murray at Madrid's Indoor Hardcourt 2007, so 3 Indoor Hardcourt wins over Murray.

His personalized pigeon
A guy who couldn't beat him when he could barely move and served at WTA speeds in Wimbledon
FAA who's been playing tennis for like 10 weeks straight

Why don't the organizers just cancel the tournament and give Nadal his YE 1, or would that be too obvious?
Not to mention his own coach willing to sell his secrets to the opponent and supporting his opponent. Some morale booster that ought to be.

In group Red: Medvedev beat’s Djokovic, Djokovic beats Tsitsipas and Tsitsipas beats Medvedev
This is a scenario which is really possible and tgen Rublev matches will be decider so one that loses to Rublev basically doesn’t qualify but in case all beat then it will come to margin of victories and that would make it pretty open

Its a very tricky group, a great idea to have those elites all fighting it out for a chance to meet Nadal.

Is this some kind of reverse jinx?! :-D
I don’t think you realize just how trash Ruud and Fritz are. Not only is Ruud in horrible form, suffering from the same indoor limitations as Nadal, his BH has a giant “attack me” sign in big neon letters written all over it. Nadal could beat this guy with his eyes closed. As for Fritz he couldn’t beat an injured Nadal who couldn’t serve at Wimbledon, he’ll have no chance here.

That’s Rafa guaranteed to at least get to the SFs. Even if he does drop a match to FAA (who similarly is going to struggle with Rafa’s lefty topspin due to his low margin BH), I think he’ll have found enough form to beat anyone in the draw. He’s just so much more talented and has the best forehand, net game, and slice here. For these NextGen mugs, Nadal is nigh unbeatable at his best.

Djokovic just lost to a freaking 19 year old and was a point or two away from losing to tsitsipas. He is old he is vulnerable and he will be burnt out dealing with the huge serves of the young guns in his group.

Nadal has his best chance in decades.

I just don't think he'll be able to turn it on for this after being clearly off in Paris.

He looked very off the pace in Madrid then retired with a foot injury vs Shapovalov. That was before beating FOUR consecutive top ten players at RG. So yeah, I think Nadal’s injuries and lack of form coming in is basically irrelevant.

Plus, he will play himself into form against Ruud and Fritz. These guys are two crash dummies, lambs to the slaughter - they’ll pump him up and get all his shots firing.

Best situation for Rafa. And in years past him going undefeated into the Final would seem probable and thus another YE but this appears to be unlikely this time.

Imagine if he goes 2-1 and loses Final and YE by 200 points?

Course would also be bananas if he gets YE via tiebreak.

He’s now the big favorite. Avoids FAA in the SFs and will get a pigeon in Medvedev or Tsitsipas instead. Won’t need to play Djoko until the finals. At which point Djo will probably have lost
Nadal is not making it out of the group unless he has improved outrageously since Paris. I think he will get better as the event goes on but the damage will be done in the first match vs Fritz

What damage can Fritz do though? That’s my point, he can beat these guys at 20%

It’s a good news bad news scenario. Good news is he has Ruud and Fritz who are the 2 weakest guys there imo. Bad news he has FAA who’s by far the most inform player there, and for whatever reason he’s been injured pretty badly injured in the 2 matches vs Fritz this year. He had the fractured rib in IW which derailed half the CC season. And then he had the abdominal tear which derailed the 2nd half of the season.

I think both Rafa and Novak got pretty decent groups

For Rafa:
Between Ruud and Medvedev, Med was the more difficult opponent by far and he avoided him.
Between FAA and Rublev, FAA was the more difficult opponent by far and he drew him.
Between Fritz and Novak, Novak was the far more difficult draw and he avoided him.

For Novak:
Between Rafa and Tsitipas, Rafa was the slightly more difficult opponent and he avoided him
Between Ruud and Medvedev, Med was the more difficult opponent by far and he drew him.
Between FAA and Rublev, FAA was the more difficult opponent by far and he avoided him.

All in all, Novak has the tougher group, but that was to be expected since he’s seeded 7th. They both avoided 2/3 more difficult opponents they could have faced

This seems like such a let-down ATP finals to me. It is what it is and maybe I'll be energized once the tennis starts, but still.

Are you claiming that Uncle Toni is some kind of mobster who would do everything for money?

Yeah bit of a missed opportunity really...

I know Nadal would have got done in by him anyway, but still would've been the most interesting match in the tournament.
Djokovic would be favoured but I wanted Rafa to win that match so the bots can shut up about HC set streak and whatnot

I honestly feel if the match somehow happens , it's gonna be a tight affair and not a gimme for Djokovic

Have you seen Nadal's level after Wimbledon?
It is not to applaud, let's say.

In form and healthy, of course. But I question how in form and healthy he is. And we need to give some credit to the opponents. FAA really is better than he was months ago and seems to love playing indoors. Ruud may "have no big weapons" (if that's even true), but he competes well and can grind and made two Slam finals this year. Fritz does have weapons there's at least the chance he can play a good match, be "on" and cause Nadal problems.

You haven’t seen the practice sessions the ATP has been live streaming. Nadal is looking amazing.

even if he his 50% he will beat both Fritz and Ruud
