My prediction of either Zverev or Fritz winning this tournament blowing up in smoke. Looks like Shelton's to loose now.

Shelton played a great match yesterday. His return game has stepped up a couple of levels. And he has become a pretty good baseliner too. That was an impressive win. Hopefully, Shelton can keep this going for one more match to raise the big trophy.

Yes, hoping it wasn't just Fritz making him look good, but the highlights show a pretty patient Shelton returning far better than average.

Definitely the best match I have ever seen Shelton play. Much better rally tolerance than I’d come to expect and really good on return.

Shelton was also outlasting Alex de Minaur in rallies actually which should have raised a lot more eyebrows than it did.

Ben has been improving for a while now but these 2 matches back to back suggest that if he were to keep moving in this direction he'd be a nightmare for almost anyone.

Looks like Ben shelton has risen. That firepower can make him go distance
Yah man, dude seems to be synchronising his other skills better, improved focus too. Outplayed TF ( my candidate for the title) comprehensively. AZ pipped to the post, KK through by the skin of his teeth.
An unexpected contest for the title.

Agree that. It's interesting to see how young players develop, how they learn to orchestrate their abilities / skills. As ever, much of it tends to reflect the prevelant emotional state, and BS's confidence has grown significantly this year. Can he clinch the title?

Very disappointing that Sinner and Alcaraz skipped Toronto and are in the draw for Cincinnati
I live in Canada and wanted to see them live.
How can we get bigger names to come to our tournament?

BS is definitely a great name for Ben!!

Indeed no more BS!!

I don't know if it's my imagination but it feels like our 1000 event gets skipped a lot by top players. I'm going back even 10 years ago on this.

Though it is a platinum opportunity for Ben, please bet responsibly!
platinum? lol it's not like his playing tsitsipus on the other end. Khachanov is in pretty good form and has a great return game (as demonstrated last night against zed, who is a much better server than Ben is). Khachanov does need to bring his 1st serve % up for this final, tho. For a 6'6" guy, his 1st serve is very underwhelming.

Is Zed conclusively a better server than Shelton? The latter has a pleasingly loose, whippy lefty delivery
that- while I'm not a fan of his- makes me glad I don't have to try to return it. I'm interested in the
outcome of this final.

I'm re-watching the Sampras v. Fed WB match while loosely following this Toronto thingy.
Sampras just missed a not-difficult OH at 2-3, 30-15, first set. Fed doing some solid returning
of the Sampras serve off both sides.
