Only thing I think in every Rune match that will cost him the win is his cramping LOL, besides he got his mommy in his box I am sure the crowd won't get to him so much after a while. He just needs to do more of this to fire them up:

I've seen every single one of his matches from 2R to whenever he exits (or wins the event) since October, 2022. He plays worse when crowds are against him many times. Just this year it happened in IW against Stan and Cressy in Montpelier and there are a couple other examples. The Sinner match in MC was an exception where he elevates his game when the crowd is hostile.
This crowd is absolutely atrocious, this isn't a garden variety "bad crowd," these people are out for blood. You don't often see crowds hysterically cheering on DF's, not even in DC in South America in the 80's.

I rarely have seen Fokina that consistent and focused in a set, if he doesn't have a meltdown like he normally does, Holger will have to earn it the hard way.

He already has gotten flak. The announcer said when he took the fake MTO, "oh no, this really has to stop. This should not be allowed, he's doing this whenever he has the mind to in so many matches."
He does it to disrupt the impede the rhythm of his opponent and just to be a brat. It's what he does. Nadal and Djokovic (and Tsitsipas) are the masters as this stuff, excluding the brattiness. It's been effective for them too.

BTW, there's Tweets from spectators in Madrid and they say Rune never erased the mark, he merely stood up from his chair at the changeover to look at. The reason the American and Brit streams didn't show it was because it didn't happen.

Yeah, I think he can play on a similarly high level when he‘s on. But he can be more shaky on a bad day or in tough moments than those other very top guys and tends to dip more then.
