I'm curious what the encouraging signs were from Domi today. I thought his body language was absolutely disgraceful throughout the whole match. He out-Murray'ed Muzz's negativity. Constantly whining to his box after every missed shot, looking at his racket as if there's a hole in it and being miserable. It was sad to see Thiem so reduced in shot tolerance and without any power on his FH anymore. He's fallen off a cliff from his former level.
I thought the power on his FH & BH both looked a lot better than they'd been in recent matches.

I'm not comparing him to his old peak self of 3-4 years ago anymore, and no one else should either. I'm just looking for him to be a consistent top 100 guy again who can win more than 1 match in a row. I liked what I saw from his game today than I had in any other tournament so far this year. It doesn't mean I think he's going to suddenly be a contender for the French Open, or even make the 2nd week.

My man Musetti has dished out three bagel sets. Including a double bagel against Nardi, the first double bagel at MC since Corretja did it in 1997.

Having a non-mixed Masters is such a revelation after IW and Miami. Don't get me wrong, I like watching the men and the women, but this being an ATP-only event it's a whiplash-inducing seven day frenzy of big matches seemingly everyday.

I am now more stupid from reading that.

Halfway through the second set, the commentators said that Thiem was averaging 81/80 on his FH and BH for the match while Rune was at 69/71. Power was not the problem. The shot tolerance was as he was going for too much. Rune got him with his variety and ended points on his terms without hitting only with power.

Looking forward to Zverev v meddy again. Zverev starting to build form, he’s decent in clay and improving his fitness again. Meddy on a roll and will be interesting if he can translate the winning run and title haul on to clay.

Good win for Rune too, who played well and looked comfortable back on the clay.
Rooting for Zverev. Needs the win more, I don’t want to see him drop in the rankings

It's very surprising that Medvedev is a quite clear favourite against Zverev on clay according to the bookmakers odds.

In the first two rounds Hurkacz played 4 tie breaks and the other two sets were close, so Jannik should win this.

Djokovic isn't looking good himself though and he could be out today.
This will be the big test for sure, intersection of tough opponent and his form being in a rut. But if he gets 1 or 2 more matches under the belt, even if they are messy 3 set wars, I think the form will come too

Lets see.

And Struff implodes!!!

Hubi has looked clearly superior in pretty much every aspect of the game. Especially, and perhaps most shockingly, from the baseline. Can Sinner dig deep and somehow find a way to force a 3rd set?

The schwartzman match really costed him. Its almost like he hasnt played a match on clay as yet. But if he wins it in 3 he could play himself into form on these slow courts
