The first time I heard of Struff was a match last year. The commentators were Spanish. One of the commentators kept saying "John Lennon is truth" for some reason I assumed this was an eccentric Latin phrase expressing admiration of a good play or shot. No. He was just saying Jean Leonard Struff with a heavy Spanish accent. Now it's how I refer to him. Good to see John Lennon is truth in the quarterfinals.

Strangely enough, I've played on red clay in a couple of spots stateside. There is actually a nice red clay facility (indoor) on the Upper East Side in Manhattan, and a not nearly as nice (outdoor) red clay setup in Stratton, Vermont.
Red clay is awesome to play on, but it does make an utter mess of your shoes and socks.

After beating Tsitsi Fritzi has the best path to victory. Rublev seems to me the type of player which suffers a bit more against that type of player.
That doesn't mean he will. Still would love to see an American male in a clay masters final.

Med should have been gone one or two rounds ago. Med probably was a bit tired but Rune was just better in everything. His game is much better for clay.

Not that surprised tbh. Tsitsipas is in a slump, if it’s the injury he’s been talking about or more mental is hard to decide, perhaps both. Fritz on the other hand has been fairly consistent now for some time. If he’s on, he’s not easy to beat with that serve and FH of his.

I think it was good that Novak lost to Musetti instead of Sinner. Sinner looks to be doing great and shouldn't give him extra confidence of beating Djokovic too.

Last year he was ****e before the FO aswell - apart from the flukey Australian Open.
Make no mistake, pulling out of MC was just him being ultra ultra safe.
