Dimitrov can’t help himself can he… 5 match points. A disappointing end to what has been an amazing set and match.

well done holger but quite cold connection from him towards crowd after the match, probably he didnt like that crowd was on grigolo side

Well, that was just disappointing.

Seeing as whoever wins this match has to face Sinner, I guess Dimitrov wasn't gonna be playing the finals anyways.

Wow, was that awesome. And hopefully, the match vs Sinner will be even more exhilarating.

I like to look at how many return points the players won to see who likely had the higher level of play on average. Return points won: Dimitrov 53, Rune 43. Rune's grit and clutch play won him the match. That makes sense. Dimitov broke Rune's serve 3 times and was only broken once. Clutch matters a ton and Rune showed it when it really matted.

With that being said, Sinner has been absolutely crushing his opponents. This will be a tall task for Rune.

return points won:
Sinner 33, Korda 11.
Sinner 30, Struff 11

Cold handshake saw that one coming.

I wish we could see this level from Holger more often the tour would be a lot better. He looked like top 5 at the end there. Hope he can give sinner a good match tomorrow.
Hopefully the fact that it’s Sinner will motivate him

Holger interview on court:

Q: You will play Sinner tomorrow, your thoughts?
A: I played 5 hours today so I have to try and recover. I think only Carlos has beaten him this year, so all I can do is try to recover and hopefully have something left for tomorrow.

So why is he playing doubles as well

He will be Finnish tomorow.
:)

Fully agree: Sinner was going to have to play absurdly late in Paris. Good call to withdraw, Sinnerman.
It was good call, agree with you but should Rune also make this good call in MC now or Sinner will make this good call in slam ever?

Hurkacz losing tamely to Ruud. Against an aggressive topspin clay court player like Ruud he should basically be volleying behind two out of three second serves. He had plenty of success until his brain short-circuited in the first game of the second set. Hurkacz followed a great second serve to the net, Ruud resorted to lobbing a backhand, Hurkacz backpedalled for it, hit a nice sliced overhead off the bounce which Ruud barely got back, and it needed an easy put away shot. Insted Hurkacz stopped the point, went to the mark where the lob landed, saw it was on the line, and wiped it out himself. There was no coming back from that mentally...
