I still don't understand what Medvedev and Sinner are doing, though. Are all these 500 worthy?
Final in Rotterdam, then both get obliterated by Alcaraz in IW.
Final in Beijing, then both out in 1st round in Shanghaï.
Final in Vienna, then out of Paris after 3 days.
There is a pattern here. I doubt a fresh Sinner woud struggle against Lajovic Shelton or McDonald.
ATP500 are not that prestigious at the end of the day. Nobody cares how many times Djokovic won Dubaï/Beijing, Federer Halle/Basel or Nadal in Barcelona. It's meaningless. Nadal's 10+ titles in Rome/Monaco or Fedovic's multiple Sunshine Doubles are much more valuable at the end of their career. 500 are nothing but improved versions of 250, but they're fast forgotten.
I feel a bit sorry for Sinner here. His draws in Beijing and Vienna were harder most of Djokovic's recent Slam wins, he's been playing some outstanding in these 2 tournaments but for what? By winning 500s, he isn't gonna be ranked #1 or #2 anytime soon barring a massive Djokoraz slump. And in the meantime he is still leaving most Slams and M1000 (barring Toronto and Wimbledon) early since March. He and Medvedev looked totally exhausted after Beijing and Vienna, it was obvious they would look bad in Shanghaï and Paris. I hope they learn the lessons next year. Masters1000 draws aren't much toughter than 500, but they award twice more points and 5 times more prestige.
