Yea it's about maintaining the body because the tennis level is there right now. I'm surprised he's playing this well this week and has been from the 1st match. Definitely sees an opportunity here now with Sincaraz both out of the way. Still a lot of tennis to be played though.
I agree. The tennis level is there which is why the injuries have been frustrating for him because he got far in tournaments but he fighting Father Time more now.

Hopefully he can recover because if so he has a chance to try make more history this week.

Seemed to be moving ok so maybe the ankle isn't too serious. Definitely will be sore tomorrow though. Yea I agree and it really has been the injuries more than anything else that's been his main problem this year.

Injuries and Sincaraz I agree. I still think Sincaraz would have stopped him as they insanely good but the injuries on top made it impossible task against those incredible young stars of the sport.

I agree he started to move a bit better so we just got to hope for the best now.

That was the case with Federer and Nadal, who were also sidelined with injury for extended periods towards the end of their careers. I wish Rafa had retired after winning RG 2022, but he believed that he had the chance of a CYGS, even though his body was telling him, "No."

What's his motivation? In time to come, no one will care about how many slams or Masters anyone had. It would all simply be statistics on the screen. I'm sure there must be more meaningful things he could do in retirement, like providing future generations with the facilities they need to carry the sport forward. You know, like the RNA. Just saying.
Djokovic can do what you say after he retires. I’m sure he has some off court and post retirement plans.

Good on Rafa having his academy growing all the time inspiring more people and developing their skills in tennis and improve their physique. He had that for so many years.

Injuries 1st and then Sincaraz 2nd. It's to be expected though when he's 38 and they are 22 and 24.

Dudes today needed the decider to get through. Can't remember Vacherot but apprantly he plays Davis Cup for Monaco, and is Rinderknech's cousin - might have been inspired by his relative's progress. Diallo seems on the verge of doing something spectaular at times but then seems not to. Hopefuly, that will change for the kid. Anticipated that Rune/GMP would be well contested, for me good job for either to get through. As for Novak, JM was a sticky wicket for the first 2, did well to take the 2nd off him, but the end result seemed clear given JM's seeming allergy reaction to capitalising on his chances.

Well, no one can deny he earned that win!
Yah man, dude knows how to win, for sure. Plays Bergs next, for whom I have a soft spot as he was named after the superb Zidane. ZB is a more incisive player than Munar, but Novak is in the qf and can probably feel the weight of the familiar trophy in his hands (he has won 4 times already I think) .... let's see.

Tomorrow brings some potentially interesting contests, FAA/Musetti; Tien/Medvedev, for example.

I kind of both want and don't want a Medvedev vs Djokovic final.

My morbid curiosity is inclined to watch both on the slowest HC and the damnedest conditions both hate

But it will be so brutal and on this slow court so boring.

No, Djokovic has taken his histrionics to another level.
(y)
I dont agree about histrionics, he has something else in himself . The drive to be the greatest in his field of work.
Only Mohamed Ali , Jordan , Phelps come close in that regard by Djokovic winner standard.

De Minaur is just on fire now. Everything works for him. Poor Borges doesn't know what to do.

De Minaur has more racquet handling skills than Borges.

FAA, Musetti, Tian, Medvedev. Which two players will proceed to the next round after the two matches tonight. I prefer FAA and Medvedev.

The moment Musetti wins something big, lots of Fred fans who are just getting by supporting Carlos will find their new favorite.

Amazing FH by FAA BPs
