Delpo fans have a lot to watch. If Mikael Ymer comes through he'll be a bit dangerous for the first match.:p

:confused:It looks worse. Stan likely getting Zverev R16 and then Kyrgios. Nishikori, Cilic, and Raonic are very shakey top seeds in the bottom half and even Rafa smells of weakness. Dimitrov will have his chances in that weak of a bottom half.:p

Robredo is a "lurk"? One foot out the retirement door, one win out of 12 matches h2h Robredo...?

Ah I said *Dolgo* was lurking in the draw and just mentioning where Robredo is given he's using PR to be in the draw.

Your Handwringerer credentials are shakey if you don't remember the great Robredo win:
    35/2013 R16 US Open Hard Tommy Robredo Roger Federer 7-6 6-3 6-4 14.00 - 1.06

Robredo was also part of the mighty top ten troubling Peak Fed.;)

How he did it against 2013 Federer is a mystery. I couldn't begin to tell you how Stakhovsky did it earlier that season at Wimby.

Losing to Robredo at the USO (in straights as well) was probably the darkest day as a Fed fan.

Fed might not play all the clay masters as well so 9th may well be enough for top 8 seeding.

Stakhovsky played a near perfect match and fed just didn't return/pass well that day.

the Robredo match is a different story. Utter crap from fed on break points and below par level in general. One of his worst losses in a GS.

Right. My only point was that the season was largely putrid by his standards. Kinda looked like high-level Fed tennis was in the rearview, at that point. It's March, and the 35-year-old version has already bested that year's output, astonishingly.

If you think Dimi is a tough opponent, you need to look at his results. I guess you missed his most recent choke against Jack Sock (hardly a titan of an opponent). I'm well aware Dimi took Nadal to five sets at the AO. The only thing that matters is who won. Dimi gets no bonus points for getting "close." So yes, I think he's an easy opponent.

In a way it was better that he lost to Robredo. That way he avoided a lot of gloating from Nadal fans after Fed would have lost to Rafa in the QF.

Robredo was a better top 10 player than Tipsarevic who was part of the strong top 10 of 2012.

Good draw for Fedr. Should make semis here. I don't see Wawrinka making semis here. So most likely he will be facing kyrgios in semis.

Unpopular opinion: Kei has an easy draw up to Rafa.
Match-up wise: Anderson, Verdasco/Evans, PCB, and then imploding Cilic, he should be able to handle them all comfortably if he plays decent, but of course I will never underestimate Kei's powers of choke and injury.

Kei has never taken PCBs. We don't know what might happen. Cilic has a cake draw, but has beaten Kei the last two times they played. Even in suspect form he may be trouble. Something has been amiss with Kei since Auz.

Bottom half starts first: Rafa playing his first match on Friday day session.

Fed plays Saturday day session and Delpo headlines the night session.

I want a Fedal final at Miami. It was there it all started in 2004. Let them meet there for one more time, probably a last time there.

Kei KO'd by Slaminal in USO'16...he finished the year 7-5 and that included 4 wins to get to the Basel final. That was his last 4-win streak and he limped into the WTF SF on a 1-2 RR result.

They call Miami a purple clay event with low bounce. Wonder why Nadal has never won it while Nole has 6 titles here .

Except Estoril...1-2 for Simon, all last year. Madrid was close the week after Estoril with Simon winning 6-4 in the third.

PCB took his Simon medicine well in Shanghai, losing 0&3 1R in their most recent matchup. Two weeks later PCB won his second title of his career in Moscow.

Was Simon's absence in IW a veteran MS1000 exemption or did Thiem injure him in Acapulco??? If it was a strategic pause, this might work out...Simon has made R16 or better every year in Miami for the last decade except when Sousa upset him in 2R in '14. If it was injury related, I take Busta.

No injury. He said he was mentally fried after a busy start to the season, and wanted to spend time with his family.
