Yah man - very well done to Vacherot for his run here & putting up a contest. He's rightly attracted interest/ admiration, seems like a likeable dude proud to play at home in front of family / friends.
Excellent stuff from Carlitos to get the job done in straights. Hasn’t looked his best, seems tired to me, but nevertheless through in straights, ready to defend the title.

Its on folks!!!!

Alcaraz vs Sinner with the number one ranking on the line!!!!
Dudes are the main course of the tour, circumstances adding piquancy. Anticipated, but nevertheless exciting prospect, thisfinal!
Multi-faceted story to the final including: Carlitos seeking to retain the title and notch up his first Masters 1000 title this season/ to improve his H2H with Jannik.
Jannik seeking his first big title on clay/ improvement of his H2H with Carlitos/ winning his 3rd of the first 3 masters titles of the year. Mostly though, they no doubt want to get the better of each other!
Hope the dudes bring their respective best level, make it a sizzling encounter.

Zverev has become useless against Sinner on all surfaces. He’s got to try something new. At this point he should try to go all out aggressive on both the backhand and forehand. If he goes down with errors so be it but what he’s doing is not working.

So where is Sinner's new serve?

Sinner continues to be entirely at the mercy of Alcaraz's winners and unforced errors

Congratulations to the Italian! I was hoping Carlos would win as he was the favorite, but all the better to spice up the rivalry!

Alcaraz broke Sinner's serve in both sets, and Sinner only made 51% of 1st Serves and won only 66% of 1st Serve Points.

Whereas at last year's French Open Final, Sinner made 54% of 1st Serves and won 70% of 1st Serve Points, and probably even better than that in the first 2 sets (he won them).

So where is Sinner's new serve?

This “new serve” of Jannik’s hasnt been firing really this entire tournament but today was particularly bad for both him and Carlos due to the conditions. I imagine we’ll see it back firing soon.

As for being entirely at the mercy of Carlos’s winners and unforced errors, dunno if that’s entirely fair. Jannik was winning a good portion of the long rallies and the depth of his shots today were forcing a lot of errors from Carlos, you could see Carlos was trying to finish points earlier because of this. Unfortunately for him, he just couldn’t find a way to combat that. Similar to Wimbledon I suppose. It’s good that they find ways to outfox each other.

As carlos said himself in the press conference after the match the backhand rallies where prison time for him

Alcarez is now Sinner 's pet toy to play with

That 1st Set is the worst I've ever seen Sinner serve, so as usual Andy Roddick was spreading BS when he hyped Sinner's "new" serve.
