The match that just ended was the best unsuccessful attempt to challenge Sinner over the past months, so I hope you made the most of it while it lasted.

As for Ruud, he has a well-established habit of losing rather comfortably to world No. 1s. This does not mean that I will not be hopelessly rooting for him together with our few fellow Norwegian TTW users.

The stamina issue would feel like a much core problem if the person waiting in the final wasn't, of all top players, Ruud, who has never taken a set off of him even against 19yo Sin

Of course anything can still happen but it's an uphill climb for Ruud on paper regardless

Think this will be one match too far for Sinner.
Ruud's playing pretty well and both the physical effort and the pressure can get to Sinner (see the "panic attack").
If there's a moment to beat him, it's this.

Sinner has now held his Rome points from 2025. He is 2,390 points ahead of Alcaraz in the ATP live rankings. If Sinner wins Rome, he'll be 2,740 points ahead. This is before another potential max swing of 2,700 points from RG. The year-end no. 1 probably will be settled in June.

The weather will be sunny and a little warmer tomorrow in Rome. I think Sinner will be fine physically after recovering today. I expect him to bring his A game.

The signs are not good. They've met 4 times and Ruud has yet to take a set and managed only 1 game when he came up against Sinner in the quarter-finals of Rome last year.

He's going to have to put all that out of his mind and play his very best tennis if he hopes to do any better.

I fear Sinner is a nighmare for Ruud. You cant stand 10 feet behind the baseline on return and give Sinner too much time.

Honestly no idea how this version of Rudd stacks up against this version of Jannik. I think regardless of how Jannik is feeling physically just now, with everything that’s on the line, he’ll lock in and play his game. If Rudd is to have any success he’ll maybe need to tweak his game plan as I feel his style of tennis plays right into Jannik’s hands. Who knows though, if Jannik does begin to tire, we may see a very competitive match.

Mental that is this where we are at with Jannik and Carlos. We require them to be compromised or out of sorts for the rest of the field to have any hope.

I may agree with the last sentence, but ... I don't see it happening. They played 4 times and Ruud hasn't won a set. the last 5 sets they played were 6-0, 6-1 or 6-2 to Sinner. The first set they ever played was a tiebreak in 2020 ... which Sinner won 7-2.

We all want a competitive final, but it seems Sinner has too much margin over Ruud. We may get a closer score, but I think it will be a straight sets victory for Sinner, maybe with closer set scores. If Ruud does manage to win a set, it could get interesting, but unless Sinner is seriously compromised (rather than just fatigued), it would take a level from Ruud that we haven't seen from him in a long time, if not ever.
