Medvedev is the first player to make back to back finals at the Sunshine Double since Federer in 2019.

Alcaraz v Meddy final will repeat. Bring the popcorn again!
Aged well.
He suddenly remembered that winning this match would mean having to deal with Alcaraz again.

Yeah. Still think Alcaraz will slaughter Med should they meet here.

Medvedev has absolutely zero chance whatsoever vs Alcaraz if he’s going to play like this.

Looks like we will get to see Medvedev get demolished again by Alcaraz in a Masters 1000 final. How exciting.

Could be joined by Carlos today.

All of you that simply dismissed Sinner's chances against Alcaraz, now what? Had you ever really seen Sinner play before? Don't you feel like a little bit embarrassed?

And look, nobody is saying this one match means Sinner is better, or will win more in the future (even if he not only beat Alcaraz, but pulverized him in every sense). But perhaps now you will realize that the two are closer than anyone gave them credit for just 24 hours ago? Maybe people will realize that while Alcarz's tennis looks to be on a different level to everyone (bar the big 3, or big 2), Sinner's tennis is also special, just in a slightly different way?

In other words, welcome back to reality. Welcome back to earth.

Yes, how dare we treat the world #1 who had won 18 of his last 19 matches as the favorite. That was clearly an admission that we've never watched Sinner play before.

And half of those quotes are even as bad. Medvedev would absolutely lose to Alcaraz if they met in the final and he played at the same level he did in the Khachanov match.

Carlos wins 6-3, 6-3.

Khachanov wins 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.

Strangely enough before the tournament began I had the two finalists predicted: Alcaraz and Khachanov! I know Medvedev is the favorite but I am going to stick with my original prediction!
Strange indeed ! Funny how "your" Carlos loses as soon as you dump Nadal for him

Those people need to confess :

Alcaraz has that effect on TTW. It was Dimitrov and many others before - It's such a sad affliction.

Anyone else watching the men’s doubles match and laughing at the Yonex commercial with Shapovalov? Do a lot of people go and buy Yonex VCore racquets because they admire that guy?

Can you tell me the next loto numbers ? You clearly know them already.
And coming back to reality as suggested, "the anointed one" is not meeting Med in the final, believe it or not, no matter what level you say he would play at. So I'm gonna say your points a little moot, am I right ?

The thing is, people weren't treating him as a mere favorite (which would have been understandable), but rather as a foregone conclusion. See above. And that distinction is very important.

Every single one of those posts just assumed that once Medvedev won his semifinal, he would definitely be playing Alcaraz. That's the problem. That's what makes them bad.

First of all, mine was a joke that I made when he double faulted himself out of that 1st set which he had wrapped up. I didn't actually think he was tanking to avoid Alcaraz.

And both of Hitman's comments were speculative, not definitive statements.

I don't agree, against Karen Daniil didn't seem very interested in the match. But in the final he came out concentrated and aggressive. If he had met Carlos, it would have been a completely different match than in IW. Especially since the court here suits him much better.
