This tourney just got lamer.
Can Melzer save this thing or what?
Haas displayed some good, oldschool all-court tennis...
He has been playing well lately. His match against Gulbis could have gone either way and he won a tough match against Almagro at IW. I'm not sure if he has the stamina to string along enough matches like this at a 1000 tournament though. Dimitrov could do worse than learn from Haas about fighting for wins and not being intimidated.
Haas would crush that nobody...
With a win over Federer on grass and a win over Djokovic on hardcourt, all Haas needs now is a win over Nadal on clay for the trifecta, hat trick, whatever.......
You mean this tournament just got infinitely better.
well it's all in Murra's hands now.
He's the only one among the top 5 who does not have a title yet this 2013, so he should get this.
That would be Federer... but he's not playing Miami...
also Fed ain't won no titles yet
EDIT: beaten by a couple seconds
Oops my bad.........
lol at novak fans being upset
Trouble is he has to go through Cilic and Berdych first.
LOL, Romeo's famous kiss of death.
You're right, that is what exactly what I meant.
Cilic to beat murray... you heard it here...
Trouble is Mike Sams has taken over the boak inducing adoration and taken it to new levels.
Anyone seen bob? Anyone? Bueller?
F1Bob's message for Tommy:
Congratulations to Haas, the flagbearer of the weak era that is still taking down top players of the strong era. Hope he goes all the way after this victory, though I know it is unlikely.
As for Novak, I think this was a combination of him having a not so great day and an on fire opponent. Hope he gets his act together for the long clay season ahead as he is the only one with an outside chance of stopping the Nadal juggernaut on clay to make things slightly interesting.
Bob and Clarky....get your asses over here, you got some explaining to do
I think Haas only has one MS title, it would be nice if he wins Miami, great player, suffered a lot due to injuries
Haas' groundies were so solid - and he got to net when the chance presented itself. Didn't deviate from the plan or get upset with any of his own misses. And obviously Djokovic threw in a decent number of UEs.
@Gonzo_style, there were plenty of stretches where Haas was not injured; he was his own worst enemy - would let one or two errors or a bad call get to him and he'd implode. Marriage and fatherhood seem to have been very good for him.
funny, Berdych only has 2 votes, but now when his nightmare is out his chances are much better...
Well you know, he has a chance but you know he has lost his last 2 v Murray but you know if he plays well you know, he has a chance!
Was that a Federer impersonation?
No Berdych but you know fed says it too so you know
Great win for Haas. He beat my fav, but I am happy for Haas. I hope he continues to do well, he has a chance at this title, that is for sure.
great win for haas... probably one of the oldest players to beat the current #1 player ?
(does anybody have a list ?)
hope he'll beat simon and make it to the SF...
I'd love to see Haas go all the way now but realistically Murray and Berdych are the favourites now.
Wouldn't find that that much of a shock upset if it happens, gamewise I actually think Cilic is a tough match-up for Murray but he's a headcase and Murray has become an excellent competitor over the years.
37-year old Federer def #1 Djokovic in Wimbledon SF 2012
one of those votes is mine, but Gasquet will be a big test. Seems to have his head in a good place this week...
Berdych beat him in straight sets (Indian Wells)
Hasi does it again! result!
Really glad to read news on Tommy's win over Boss.
Mixed things up nicely.
Looks like the tournament is wide open...glad I picked..
Great chance for anyone to win a Masters.
Gr8 for Tommy too but don't know how much longer his shoulder can hold out.
It's actually called strategy. No one can beat the Joker playing power tennis toe to toe. Certainly not Haas. So why would he try? You implement the best strategy to win. You play to win the game!!!!
nice but he won't win this with Murray and Berdych in the draw. and novak said this is the worst match he played this year
true... berdych is on form and has that recent win, but Richard has a leading head to head (if only marginally so), has a good win over almagro behind him and the 2nd set was close at IW. could go either way, even though i still have berdych as my pick for this tournament.
i expect a three setter. should be fun.
Does Ferrer have a legit shot here, seems to me he does
Yeah I think so plus being in Miami he will have a lot of support!
Nadal should've played Miami. Might have had a chance, depending on his stamina and physical health, to do the Cali/Miami double.
Its Murrays M1K to win or lose, He will Pass Federer this yr into # 2 ATP Rankings.
If you've been following Murray over the years then you'll know he does the exact opposite of what people expect.
Why am I not surprised that Almagro lost to Gasquet?
They don't call him Almugro for nothing.
He's at church a few days early, praying for the resurrection of the son of God.
Will Murray blow this chance?
Bob after last night:
there are articles saying he's the oldest in 30 years, but they aren't naming the player or the #1 he beat.
i read that too !
i tried to look at the activities of connors, mcenroe and lendl in 1982-1984, and i didn't find anything... but maybe i missed it ?
At the risk of kicking a man when he's down.....
Bob is the archetypal glory hunter. You didn't see him on here before Nole's super 2011 and you never see him here after Nole loses.
Do I get credit for always posting here whether John wins or loses! Rough loss this week v Cilic but the Croat is in superb form!
