ATP Montpellier (ATP 2050) 2026

Arthur Gea with a second very narrow loss against a much older player in the space of three weeks. He just lost 7-5 4-6 4-6 against Mannarino in Montpellier.

Know very little about Damm - just watched the tb, and getting through in straights. Will Mannarino withstand the attacking younster's game?

Time now for the main course - been looking forward to FAA / Fils.

All I know of Damm is that his dad once took Boris Becker to five sets at Wimbledon 1992. Similarly, all I know of Shelton is that his dad gave Boris Becker all he was worth in the round following that five setter between Becker and Damm Senior.

FAA v. Fils QF could be a humdinger, if the rust is fully off the latter's game.

Go, both guys!

I think it's not, and thus I think FAA should win relatively easily (6-4 6-4 or something like that). He's just taken an early break.

Winner of this match has a great shot at winning the title.

Rusty Fils isn't beating FAA indoors.

FAA indoors is a top five player in the world today.

I only put Alcaraz, Sinner, Djokovic and Zverev ahead of him if they all play their best levels.

Damn. FAA slouching there to be clearly behind all of Calf, Djokovic, and Zverev. Sure, he's never going to be Sinner's peer, but if he wants to make the most of his potential, he has to be able to compete as an equal indoors against a clay-courter, a man aged 38.67, and a choker who pushes his forehand.

Who knows, maybe one day he will. The list of players better than him indoor is a very small.

Yah man, like FAA's elegant demeanour and silky game. Superb serving, gorgeous groundies and the serenity he exudes all make for a dude worth watching on court. Fils not able to collate his disparate skills, but good to see him competing again.
Anticipating an FAA / Damm final.

When Mannarino is on, he's tough.
Heh, heh, yah man - dude's game is interesting. Liked how he focused to outplay Damm in the 2nd and remained tactically better to consolidate the early break in the 3rd and stave on a surge by MD in the final game. He was exhausted though - will he recover for the final?
FAA required the decider against a previously unknown (to me) Droguet. He might have clinched the win instraights but for his poor play in the Tiebreak, I liked Droguet's game - played an inspired lob to get to set point and finished off with a superb serve. Despite the high of winning the tiebreak, TD fell away in the decider. Hopefully FAA will be rested for the final.
Noteworthy that 2 qualifiers made the SF in a field with several higher ranked players.

After defeating Stan Wawrinka, Arthur Fils, Titouan Droguet and Mannarino to go back to back in Montpellier, Auger-Aliassime moved clear of Milos Raonic to set a new record for the most Tour titles by a Canadian in the Open Era. Auger-Aliassime has now won 89 tour-level matches indoors this decade, the most of any player.

Felix wins his 9th ATP singles title (placing him joint 7th with Bublik on the leaderboard of the current top #10) and 1st of the season. It is his 6th title at 250 level and 2nd title defence (after 2023 Basel). He becomes the 1st player to defend the title in Montpellier since Gasquet exactly 10 years ago.

Real good job- esp after the way he fell of a cliff a couple-few years ago.

Also now leads for most titles amongst Canadian ATP players

Saw some of the final, and a little bummed for the Wizzard Mannarino.

Did anyone think the courts looked lightening fast? Like, 90's tennis fast?
