Djokovic needs to prove he is the top dog. After wimbledon, he has 2 losses in Olympics. Then a loss in US Open final. He will get the YE no.1 but would be so much better if he wins Paris now.

Ahh, forgot the match was on. Literally just saw Novak signing the camera, lol. Judging from the comments, it doesn't look like I missed much.

Hurkacz should be an interesting match, actually. He is one of the few guys on tour who can go BH to BH with Novak and could bot his way to a TB or two

Zverev looks like the best player in the world on HC right now - when the heat is not on :D
Mental toughness is missing, not only from him just from everybody barring Med.
I always say all new youngster are talented but are mentally weak.
Mentally tough among them is Med and he is the least talented among Zverev, Tsits, Rublev, Berr, HH etc

4:05 AM. Need to get a bit of sleep until the Medvedev match (just 90 min or so ) . I hate this time difference thingy..

Some crappy service games but mostly a clinic. I was harsh initially.

Finish this race tomorrow on your own terms my man. Remembering how Murray was like diarrhea at the end of 2016, just when you think he was finally gone he would come back again, I don't want seeing even a glimpse of that now.

Agree 100%.
Ruud is strong mentally, but lacks some elements game wise. But damn, he has improved his game drastically. Very exciting for us Norwegians, who have never really had a top player in tennis ever.

I am surprised by the mental weakness of those you mentioned. Such big games, and yet so little belief when it matters.

You are right, one of main thing I like about Rudd is that he is not a chicken like FAA or Rublev, he is not talented like them but atleast don't want to give up easily.

He is very professional, I think. And he works really hard. He has improved his fitness and has become visibly stronger this year. And it pays off!

This is the common ground of Big3: Superb physical form. Federer played top tennis at almost 40, but many young players can't last 5 sets.

I don't expect much against Zverev, though. As mentioned by @Tennis_Freak99 : Terrible match up for Ruud.

Problem is Rudd is not natural indoor hc player

Zverev is like the worst possible matchup for Ruud. Anyways would be rooting for him
Zverev can be worst possible matchup for anybody apart from med and Novak on hc if he sort out his mental weakness, remember 2020 us Open final where for set and half schooled Thiem and made him look like inexperienced player

I hope Medvedev plays better in this match than he played in his last match. He was very sloppy but still managed to win. Hoping he pulls himself together... and has an easy win!

Medvedev just covers sooo much ground on any drop shot, even standing that far back.

This is glossed over because of #NextGenHate but Zverev and Medvedev are absolutely freakish, insanely quick movers for being 6'6". I doubt if anyone that height in tennis history moves as well as these two do.

ok i will give Gaston a chance with his smart gameplay.
i wonder when will Medvedev figure him out (or not?)

hugos awakening party wont be spoiled, believe me, he just about to unleash all his variety and crowd power
