Mickey-mouse tournaments? And what 'mickey-mouse' tournaments are these that can account for the 4690-point gap between Nadal and Djokovic?

So Federer will be no.8 soon yet nadal fans still gloat on his victory over Roger as if it means something.

Funny dudes...

The top four is officially disbanded, much like the Hewitt-Roddick-Safin-Federer top 4 and the Hewitt-Roddick-Nadal-Federer top 4 before them, although they were much harder to beat and better as collective group. Perhaps the best top four of all time.

Odd seeing these two not in their top 4 places. I suppose Murray may drop out of the top ten if he doesn't defend Wimbledon....I hope not.

I did some calculations before hand cause I'm a nerd and I ended up with Djokovic and Ferrer having slightly more points, assuming Rafa wins and Stan loses on Sunday:

1. Nadal: 15.130
2. Djokovic: 10.620
3. Del Potro: 5370
4. Ferrer: 5280
5. Wawrinka: 4910,
6. Murray: 4720
7. Berdych: 4540
8. Federer: 4355

Weird seeing both Murray and Federer out of the top 4, having been used to throwing around the term "Top 4" for so many years. I'm glad to see Delpo at 3 even though it feels unjustified given his recent performance. Federer will come back to 5-6 soon. I expect and Murray should break back into the top 4 cometh the clay season. Ferrer will drop out of top 4 soon too. Maybe for good.

Tipsa....buddy let's wait of the final first!
Let's not count Stan out yet. We don't want to jinx Rafito no?

Wait just 2 more days :D

Federer will be top four again this year. The players 3 through 8 are all close and a few have little chance of defending their points now that Nadal is back and Federer is looking healthier.

You mean the tournament he's playing now, the Australian Open, is a Mickey Mouse tournament?

Compared to the other slams, I agree; which should mean that you and I both agree that your so-called rightful #1 Djokovic has built almost his entire career on a joke tournament, which by the way, he lost in the quarters.

I see now why he's called the joker now - because his grand slam resumé is 80% a clown affair.

In case you were wondering, no I don't hate Djokovic at all; this is just how ridiculous you sound.

No of course in this case Novak would become number 1 again way before the US open, that's why I said 'unless injury'
That would mean Nadal lose early at the FO, lose early in IW, Monte Carlo, Madrid ....

Nadal can only win some points at Wimbledon too because he lost in R1 last year.

The period following Wimbledon will be difficult because he won everything, Montreal, Cinci and US open.

Roger: 14,600
Rafa: 9,600
Ljubicic: 6,400
Nalbandian: 6,000
Finalists get 1200 now...It was 700 back then...so you can't just double the points
Yes you can't just double points because point distribution was different back then. Losing players from the 2nd round up to the Finals used to receive much more points then.

Points until 2008-
W1000- F700- SF450- QF250- R16150- R3275- R6435- R1285

2009-Present
W2000- F1200- SF720- QF360- R16180- R3290- R6445- R12810

I do not believe that Mickey has sponsored any tournaments in the past 4 years. Here is an image from a 2009 tournament:

Here is one from from the pre-Open era. Notice the use of a continental grip on the FH which was very common for that time. Mickey used a racket with an uncommonly open string pattern (4x5).

I think if he wins AO and RG and has a decent result at Wimbledon he's going to be #1 again unless someone else takes the other 2 majors.

Novak losing in quarters of AO really hurt his points and chances. He could gain some by going further at RG but he will also have to match WIM and USO final appearances. Going to be tough.

I was just trying to figure out when is the earliest possible time Nadal could lose #1 in worst case scenario.
