Talk about overreactions...now we have people seriously claiming that Sinner would even beat peak Nadal on clay because he beat down Ruud at night when Ruud's only weapon is blunted and Ruud has a habit of giving in (and I like the guy) .

This reminds me of when people here first saw a great version of Carlos and started to theoriize that he was unbeatable.

I mean he looks pretty goddam good though. He's so good even when he's on the back foot and you think he's out of the point like a Djokovic or Nadal. And when he's aggressive, it's easy power like Berdych. Hard not to get caught up in the hype.

I think Rome will be advantage sinner. Will go with sinner slight advantage. But the Paul match is pending.

If it is Alcaraz v Sinner it will be interesting. As they not played for a while.

Sinner has looked better this week but the match will be played in day conditions that suits Alcaraz more. Alcaraz had sinner’s number in 2024.

It will be tough to call. Sinner is playing fantastic though and looks ready. However, in these type of matches they tend to be close and comes down to big points.

Tommy Paul first for sinner but should he pass that we could get a classic just before RG.

This Rome is probably better for sinner to hit through Alcaraz compared to RG.

Remember Djokovic used to sometimes hit through Rafa at Rome but couldn’t do it at RG.

A repeat could happen but it will be close. Alcaraz slight favourite but obviously sinner can beat him here and at RG too

Exactly. Fifth consecutive clay tourney where Raz has made the final and he just beat two top ten players in straights and almost everyone’s relentlessly negative about his form and prospects lol.

Definitely needs to tighten things up another notch on Sunday, but he’s regularly coasting along to big finals without even playing his best tennis, the way true greats often do, so I’m not too concerned.

Sinner does look pretty good of course, but that's a VERY different proposition from the overreactions here which include writing off even peak Nadal against him and imagining that because he beat Ruud in a night match in Rome whose one weapon is muted in the conditions and doesn't exactly shine for his grit always, that Sinner is a lock for Roland Garros and no one can do anything against him.

For starters, let's see some real clay court tennis on a nice warm day with a player capable of a variety of spins and who can mix it up and finish off points comfortably without a gaping hole on one of his 2 wings before anointing Sinner an unstoppable clay machine.

When Carlos first started to have impressive wins, there were many posts asking what other players could even do against him. From one overreaction to the next.

Paul is one of the only guys on tour who moves better than Sinner in terms of pure speed/athleticism. I don't think he'll win either, but he has the tools. And he beat Sinner on grass in 2022. Sinner is not as good on naturals as on hard

LOL. Have you seen Sinner's ball speed and return? It's unprecedented. Rafa's serve would be constantly under pressure. It's just another weight of ball. Rafa would be swinging like a windscreen wiper.

I get it, but TP has made the Rome final 2 years in a row. This isn't a fluke for him.

Sinner has never made it this far in this event. That kinda stuff doesn't seem to bother him, but who knows when it will matter.

If Paul is smart he will be a bit of a dick to Sinner and get him tilted (Tiafoe)
