IF the top 3 play their best tennis then only the current World No. 51 JMDP is the only person I think who could win a GS only if he is playing his best tennis like he did in 2009.

Murray and Soderling can also do it.

What do you mean by their best?

If you mean "as well as they have ever played", then no one except for Fed can win AO, USO, WO, and no one except for Rafa can win FO.

If you mean as "well as they can play given their current ability", then the only other person I think can win is Delpo if he goes on a hot streak for USO. The other contenders:

Sod at FO - but he does not beat Nadal at FO if Rafa is playing his best
Murray at USO, AO - but he does not beat any of the top three if they are playing their best

Delpo, currently no one else is capable of that level of play...

Murray will never win one and Sod would have to have someone else beat Nadal to win the French

I would like Ferrer to get something on clay. If the draw opens up; why not? He is an extremely hard worker, makes the most of his weapons and has serious heart. Clowns like Andy McHagggis could learn a thing or two from that guy.

I think Murray beats Nadal on hardcourt GS if both are playing their best.

Sorry I don't agree. By Nadal's best on hardcourt I'm thinking play like he had in 2010 USO. I don't see Murray beating Nadal in the final of a GS if Nadal is playing that well. Maybe in an earlier round, but not in the final. So my point was that even if Murray were to reach the finals, he'd likely have to beat one of the top three in the final, and I don't see that happening this year.

Things would have to fall in place for him, but Ferrer would be a deserved FO champion (though purists may disagree). He is a great role model both on and off the court.

I wouldn't want him to win it over my favorite players though.
