Agreed. Carlos has too much variety for this version of Medvedev.
Med played some good ball today but not consistently. He sort of fades away for patches of every match at IW this year. He has 2 days rest now, he should be great to go on Saturday and should have little trouble with Tiafoe anyway.

Got to be better than this to go all the way this week. Still, relieved. Second set could have easily gone the other way. Patchy from both.

I am wondering why the Isner/Sock match is not on but a repeat of Tiafoe is on the the Tennis Channel?
I agree. It’s disappointing they’d skip over a live match with a quality doubles team for a replay. Doubles in Indian wells for me tends to be some of the most entertaining tennis of the year with all the singles players and team matchups. They didn’t even really upload highlights for them until the semis/finals which is a missed opportunity.

I honestly think Paul is just better than Felix at this point in time. He’s more reliable, has a much better BH, better defender. FAA has a higher peak potential but this doesn’t feel fluky. Feels like the superior player being superior.
I’m a big fan of both, but Fritz in terms of weapons and potential to win big titles is definitely superior to Paul.

Paul is more reliable and really just able to get through some grueling matches and come back the next day. Less skills but he’s at 19 and his peak is 18. If he could get a title or two title wins and finish top 15, that would be a wildly successful year in hindsight.

Nice to see Sinner pull through. Played pretty well toward the end of the 3rd set.

Just look at his strokes; his forehand is much more lethal and his net game and touch are better as well.
Yeah, Tiafoe definitely has a higher peak potential compared to Norrie. He's probably not as consistent, but that partly because he is more creative, and I'd prefer that he kept the creativity rather than playing like a robot.
Indian Wells proudly promoting two flags above court 1 stadium (U.S. and Ukraine). If that isn't a political statement I don't know what is.
U wot m8?

Miami’07 had two teenage SFists but the other SF was Canas (29) vs Ljubicic (27). Advantage IW’23, by a hair. fedr (25) messed up by losing to ancient Canas.

Miami’05 with fedr (23), Nadal (18), Ferrer (23) had a shot but ancient Agassi (34) ruined that age mix.

I suspect Med will start out the villain. But his play will speak for itself. Probably be a back and forth match where tiafoes chances get constantly snuffed out by Medvedevs stubborn tenacity. Med will win in the end unless he becomes emotionally compromised.

Also a yellow McLaren $150000 car foe this week. That's nice.
