amazing match by horna. I was there. at first I was rooting for Nalbo.
But later on, david was playing that bad and Horna was hitting winners all over that I wanted him to win.
He played an almost perfect match. Nice win by Lucho.

Ramirez-Hidalgo d. Gaudio 61 61. I dont know whats going on with Gaudio in the last year but I don´t think he´s gonna be a top player anymore.

After the match, the crowd booed him.

oh...... poor him ! :(

(will he still play his next RR match ?)

maybe a radical change of coach could help his confidence ?...

EDIT
uh oh... he talked about retirement during his press conference... :?

Nalbandian out, jeered Gaudio feels like quitting

BUENOS AIRES, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Top seed David Nalbandian crashed out of the Buenos Aires Open and his fellow Argentine Gaston Gaudio said he felt like quitting after being jeered off court on Wednesday.

Gaudio, who reached No. 5 in the world rankings in 2005, was trounced 6-1 6-1 by Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo in his opening match of the tournament, which uses a round-robin system.

"The jeers don't surprise me, they came from the same people who applauded me in 2005," said the sixth seed, who won the tournament two years ago.

"I was a genius then and now I'm an idiot."

"Things don't work without confidence, I'm getting worse and worse and the situation is complicated."

"It makes me want to quit tennis."

Tournament organisers later said that Gaudio was pulling out of Thursday's match against Alessio Di Mauro.

How does a player get eliminated when another player withdraws?
that's the magic of round robins !

- devilder lost to lapentti
- ferrero lost to devilder

so there was still a chance for ferrero to qualify, if he defeated lapentti, because it would be a "3 ex-aequo players" situation, whose winner is determined by the % of sets/games.

but with lapentti withdrawing... even if ferrero won against the alternate (which he did) it's a "2 ex-aequo players" situation, whose winner is determined by the match they played. and devilder won it... ;)

But vive, Dlouhy played in JCF's place. And the standings:

Sets
JCF: 60% (3 - 2)
ND: 50% (3 - 3)
NL/LD: 40% (2 - 3)

Say hello to the sweet, sweet quarterfinals, JCF! ;)

Unless there's yet ANOTHER twist in the Round Robin format. :x

there is !
(unfortunately for JCF !)

although all of them have 1 win, dlouhy didn't play the same number of matches... so he's out of the equation !
