Did Stepanek win? The stupid ****ing live scoring ARRRRRRGHHHHH has been ****ed up ever since Tokyo. It tells me there haven't been any matches played today, even though CLEARLY (current matches in bold):

Nice mix of established top 10 players and tallented youngsters here.

Tough top half of the draw compared to the bottem.
e.g. Davydenko could draw: Soderling, T. Johansson, Gasquet, Ancic/Hewitt, Ljubicic/Bagdahtis.

Thats a tough draw for this kind of event.

I actually voted for Ancic, depite a potencial clash with Hewitt, followed by Gasquet/Davydenko, followed by Ljubicic/Bagdahtis.

Ancic finished in the top 15 last year, despite being injured for large periods of time. I think he has a good chance, but there are plenty of players capeable of winnning this one.

Isn't Nadal playing? I remember last year he played in this tournament after his return from injury, where he lost in the semis to Clement in three sets.
 
Hey, how come Stepanek had to qualify for this tournament, isn't his ranking high enough for direct acceptance?

Anyway, I like Ancic's chances, just as long as he doesn't repeat last year. As much as I like Clément, I just don't think he'll make it past the first round.

because that's the system!;) If you don't register on time,then you got to either beg for WC or play the qualies.In this case all the WCs were given to french players so pretty Radek had to go all the qualification rounds.Well,I think this is better for him cause he might wanted some more match play after his long absence!:) And I think he will face Ljubo first round!

Wow, good day to be a Frenchman! Gicquel just beat Monfils 46 76(1) 75! I just found a pretty good livestream through offthebaseline.com, it just gets kind of wacky every once in a while.

Lol, that's right. Maybe I should have said good day for a Frenchman to beat another Frenchman, as in this case and Saulnier d. Guez. But Gilles Simon and Fabrice Santoro won too, so it wasn't too bad for the others. The quality of the livestream was pretty good, actually, really good, but every once in a while, the screen turned green and flipped upside down(?), very strange indeed. I think play is over for today, though.
 
Day of upsets:

Ljubicic lost to Mahut in straights.
Davydenko lost to Soderling in 3 sets.
Ancic retired against Seppi in the 1st set.
Grosjean and Stepanek withdrew.

But there are still some big names in the draw.
 
Johansson fell in straights to countryman Soderling.

Ferrer won the first set against Benneteau 6-4, but hasn't any of the ten games since. Benneteau is up 4-0 in the third set.
 
Another seed bites the dust, say bye bye to Hewitt, who retired to stop the pain of his *** being spanked by the great Giles Simon.

Gasquet spanked Gicquel: 7-6(2), 6-2! Gasquet and Baghdatis are the only seeds left :O! Seeds 6 and 7 respectively. Sweet! If Gasquet can get through Soderling, he should be in the final vs. Marcos :O!! Awesomeness.
 
yea and i hope Marco whipps his butt! somehow i think gasquet is gonna be a bigger challenge...but im sure he lost to marco before somewhere?

nope,actually he has always beaten Marcos.....but not in the ATP tour (in exhibitions matches and in juniors)

I've been getting really bad results, so I've pretty much given up. Usually, I can hear what's going on and not see a thing or get a "scrambled signal", but today, it's not even connecting, so I guess it's not working right now. Maybe it doesn't work very well for those outside of France.
