Who is going to win the ATP World Tour Finals? As of now Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, Wawrinka, and Cilic have qualified, but since Nadal has withdrawn from the tournament, this leaves 1 more space giving the player who is ranked 9th in the race a chance to qualify. 4 players have qualified so far (excluding Nadal), this leaves a chance for 4 more to qualify.

Current rankings:

1) Qualified Novak Djokovic- 9010

2) Qualified Roger Federer- 8520

3) Qualified Rafael Nadal- 6835 (however has withdrawn)

4) Qualified Stan Wawrinka- 4805

5) Likely to qualify Andy Murray- 4295 Guaranteed qualification if he reaches Paris QF

6) Likely to qualify Kei Nishikori- 4265 Guaranteed qualification if he reaches Paris SF

7) Qualified Marin Cilic- 4150

8] Likely to qualify Tomas Berdych- 4105 Guaranteed qualification if he reaches Paris SF

9) Possible to qualify David Ferrer- 3865 Guaranteed qualification if he reaches Paris F

10) Possible to qualify Milos Raonic- 3840 Guaranteed qualification if he wins Paris title

So the 3 who have the best chance at qualifying are Murray, Nishikori and Berdych, and for the 4th place it's really a toss up between Ferrer and Raonic.

Dimitrov is 11th in the race and has no chance at all to qualify unless he reaches Paris SF.

So there you have it out of the players who have already qualified and who are very likely to qualify who is going to win the WTF? Federer and Djokovic will be battling for the No.1 spot and their performance at the WTF will be very crucial to decide who will take it.

I will post a poll once it is confirmed who all have qualified. But as of now what are your thoughts on who will be the champion of the 2014 ATP World Tour Finals? :)

It finally comes down to Raonic vs Ferrer where Raonic would have to pass one more round than Ferrer -> nothing impossible but rather unlikely.
Ferrer would probably need to lose to Goffin (or Simon/Young/Verdasco) for Raonic to qualify as I don't think Raonic could go past Federer.

Now create some interesting groups!

How about:
Djokovic
Wawrinka
Murray
Ferrer

Federer
Nishikori
Cilic
Berdych

(Federer with a chance to lose all 3 RR matches!)

According to http://http://live-tennis.eu/race Murray and Nishikori have already qualified. Hope Ferrer gets it, I really like how much he fought to get in that top 8 (top 9 now), it must mean a lot to him to enter.

Just noticed they've both got tough 2nd round matches after their bye:
Ferrer has Rosol/Goffin
Raonic has Andujar/Sock

I think i would rather have Raonic at the WTF than Ferrer. No offence to the guy but he just makes up the numbers in every other year he's been involved. At least give Raonic a shot with Nishikori, Cilic, Wawrinka.

Berdych being there is good because he can beat anyone now that Nadal has withdrawn, which makes him the most dangerous dark horse and the one to watch for.

It has been confirmed who all have qualified. The players who qualified are:

1) Novak Djokovic

2) Roger Federer

3) Stan Wawrinka

4) Kei Nishikori

5) Andy Murray

6) Tomas Berdych

7) Milos Raonic

8) Marin Cilic

Who do you think is going to be crowned the World Tour Finals 2014 champion?

This could be the strongest WTF in years in terms of HC skills. I wish Dimitrov was playing instead of Nishikori, and I would take Tsonga over Murray in his current form.

I think winning in Vienna and Valencia vindicated Murray's indoor hardcourt credentials.

Man I am just happy Ferrer isnt there. But you watch one of these guys will pop up injured and then you have the little dork running around again.

Hard to see anyone beating Djokovic. Only a Cilic replicating his USO form or Fed playing lights out.

I think the biggest surprise that could come out of this year's WTF is if the ATP announces the next host city - or extends London.

Berdych is the weakest link out of this group. Got a feeling he'll have a 3-0 loss score in all of his RR games.

It depends on the court. If the ATP make it as slow as Paris, then Djokovic will sweep for the title.

If its faster, then I think Federer has his chances.

Federer always has been the oldest top 8
for many years. But this time some of top 8s are quite young. This time its as much as 10 year difference.

Indoor is the surface where age matters the least though because one can rely on his serve more. And the way I remember it, WTF is pretty low bouncing.

BTW, at WTF, Fed will be trying to tie Nadal for most # of seasons at winning 3+ tier 1 events. Nadal has the record with 8: 2005 to 2010, 2012, 2013. McEnroe, Lendl and Fed are all at 7. Borg, Sampras, Agassi, Djoko: 5.

Djokovic has been looking so comfortable indoors recently. It's hard to bet against him really, especially now that his child has been born.

It's funny how much this tournament is lacking without Nadal actually. I mean, most tournaments are worse off without a great player competing, but they can cope. I find the WTF really suffers when Nadal's not trying to get the last piece of his collection.

Not complaining though. One fewer opponent for Nole to worry about.

If if if Federer plays like in Shanghai, Cilic and Nishikori like in US Open, Wawrinka like in Australian Open... except they won't. Djokovic makes no errors unless they are forced. He is special in that departement, very impressive consistency. I think he looks as strong as ever, even playing some fancy points at the net for variety against Raonic :)

Question is can Cilic play like he did at the US open ???
Cilic is probably the biggest question mark. He's won almost half of his 13 titles on indoor hard (6 out of 13), so he should be comfortable enough on the surface but of course those 6 titles were minor ones (a bit like Raonic). Same goes for Nishi (3 out of his 7 titles were indoor albeit minor ones). Wawrinka has the worst record: big fat 0 indoor. (I bet he'll be in Fed's group haha)
Berd and Murray have both won a master title indoor and Berd actually also won a 500: Rotterdam. Surprising he's not done better in WTF overall.

Murray has also won Rotterdam and has 2 Valencia titles in addition to 2008 Madrid.

That's always the question mark at the moment, isn't it?
Yes it is. I already posted somewhere that I felt Murray was close to winning 1st set in Paris (vs Djoko). Doesn't mean he would have won the match but you know, surgery or not, he is not an opponent I would ever take lightly on hard. Sometimes a bit of confidence is all one needs for things to start clicking again.

Hopefully Murray, Djokovic, Federer and Nishikori make the semis. Those would be some superb matches! Just wish it was five sets, instead of three.

Going with Djokovic to win it. Most in form player at the moment. Federer will need divine intervention to cause an upset. Hopefully he gets to the final.

Marin was on and said he'd rather Roger than Novak, Honest!

Fed will be lucky to make of out of this group.

If Rafa hadn't of pulled out then all eight would have been slam finalists (at time participation). When was the last time that happened?

The positive for Federer about this, he will have the golden chance of putting finally ahead of Murray in their h2h

Djokovic certainly with the easier group considering his opponent's form but Federer won't be sad not having Berdych in his group ;)

I predict Djokovic & Wawrinka to advance, Murray & Federer as well.

Interesting groups. Finally no Murray / Djokovic match before the semi-finals. Miracles happen these days ...

Group A
Djokovic
Wawrinka
Berdych
Cilic

Group B
Federer
Nishikori
Murray
Raonic

Fed's with the much tougher draw for sure, but I like that Djoko and Wawa are together as well given how many great clashes they've produced.

It's pretty open who follows Djoko into the semis given Wawa and Cilic's complete lack of form and Birdman's no chance whatsoever vs. Djoko and historically relatively poor record at the WTF. I honestly don't know where to put my money on the 2nd man in that group - if Cilic or Wawa suddenly finds their form, they could do serious damage, but that's a big if.

As for the B group, Raonic is the weakest link, but you simply cannot count him out given it's indoors and he has that serve. Beating Fed prior to the WTF surely won't hurt his confidence and chances and he actually leads Murray in the h2h.
Nishi should get enough rest for his fragile body with one day off between the RR's matches and could be a pretty tough not to crack.
Not sure there are any safe bets in this group although Fed should be slightly favored to make it through. Don't know how to call the 2nd man either, but for different reasons than in Nole's group.
