I have an interesting question for everyone - what examples are there of men or women who won an ATP or WTA "regular" tournament (i.e. excluding WTA 125k tournaments) who had a lower pre-tournament ranking than someone who won an ATP Challenger or ITF tournament the same week? I'm particularly interested in examples of players who lower-ranked players who won a ATP 500 or higher/WTA regular Premier or higher tournament the same week as a higher-ranked player won a Challenger (men) or higher-end ITF (women) event.
My question was inspired by what happened this past week in women's tennis, when Marie Bouzkova reached the semifinals of the Canada Premier 5 tournament after entering the week at #91 in the world while Madison Brengle, who won the ITF Landisville 60k tournament, entered the week ranked #73. Can you imagine if Bouzkova had won in Toronto while ranked lower than someone who won an ITF tournament the same week somewhere else?
