Carlos must be a good player if a straight set win on a new surface gets criticized so much.
Carlos is the most talented person, inside and outside of tennis, of his generation.
If the world wants to see anyone fail, it would be him, out of pure jealousy and envy.

maybe his plan wasnt losing, but i could be crazy you know
Been watching tennis for a while. Norrie isn't a top 10 player but there's no way he should lose R2 like that. There's no excuse except that he's only putting in 50 percent since IW is only two weeks away.

Jarry Wawrinka was a real battle ! Stan could not serve it out, probably lack of matchplay.
Gaby Sabatini saw it all happening

Coria is playing very well. He ousted Baez 6-1,6-4. SB was error prone at times, but FC was dominant, taking his chances very well. He mixes it up too-played some superb dropshots. SB rallied in the 2nd set, breaking in the 8th game. But he could not hold his stance , broken back , with no purchase on FC's serve as he served for the match. Into the SF.
I didn't watch the Diaz Acosta match but note he's through in straights against Lajovic.

Good match so far, but the Italian seems a bit tight in this TB.

More importantly, though, they just had a good closeup of Gabriela Sabatini, and my god has she aged well. Absolutely gorgeous.
Yes she is gorgeous. I remember when she played the comms were besotted.

I've never seen Andrea play before, and am impressed with his demeanour and effort. He has a very good serve, giving Carlos a run for his money here. Carlos excelled in the tiebreak taking it 7-1. Good job to get that challenging 1st set in the bag. Andrea keeping up the challenge, putting pressure upon Carlos's serve in the first game of the 2nd set. Carlos holds. And breaks to love with a lovely dropper. Much better focus from him now, against the 28 year old.

Yeah she definitely still workin' it. Kinda looks like one of them Brazzers milfs.

Or... uhm... so they tell me.
Oh man, we are on the same wavelength. I swear I was going to mention that "Milf" is always one of the most popular categories on those sites for a reason...

I mean, I only called him a "journeyman" coz that's the perception an average TTW user would have - and understandably so. But personally I have known (and idolized) the epic WAVE for a decade... great STORY... if he only had a backhand he could really have made a bid for the top 100.
But I can't agree on this one. The one handed backhand must live!

Sure... if it can hold up, let it live. But his just can't keep up with today's baseline brutality. That's why he slices 97% of the times.

The Argentalian women are something else... Anyone catch Darderi's girlfriend?

Well just in case...

Ratz in a tight one against a 30 year old challenger/futures journeyman and... not a single comment??? Man, this place really IS dead.
I’ve been too busy watching. That journeyman was actually playing at a high level and Carlos is playing far better than he has been. High 1st serve percentage, great behind his second serve unlike yesterday; all good to see. He’s cruising now in set 2. 5-0

Beautiful lob to hold serve, taking it to 3-0. I'd quite like to see a more robust effort from Andrea. Sustaining a high level is a challenge, though and Carlos is more forthright. Superb pass down the line to go up 4-0, and holding to take it to 5-0. I don't like bagels - hope Andrea can hold here - and he does. Good. Now come on Carlos, get it over with.

Top of the evening to you Rattie. Yes, Carlos playing better. Superb winner to clinch it 5-1.
Beautiful point
There were a few beauties today, but then again there generally are when he plays.

And to you Eureka. Good to see Carlos playing well and all his shots working well for him; long may it continue.

This is a good atmosphere. Lots of excitement. The crowd is pulling in favor of Etcheverry. Cheering double faults. But Jarry was able to pull through. The kid has sand.

Diaz Acosta plays with such intent, striking the ball keenly. Very impressive. He's through to his first ATP tour final 6-2, 6-3.
Etcheverry played well in the 1st set to win it, and for parts of the 2nd set, but was hampered by an injury that led him to withdraw. Pity. It should be a well contested SF between Nicolas and Carlos.

Sorry that Carlos was unable to play well when he needed to and Nicholas was the better player today when it mattered. He remained resolute and dominated in the latter stages of the 2nd set. Well done to him for playing well.
I'm disappointed for Carlos, but he will have gained valuable match play and hopefully, can deal with the adjustments that he needs to make as he faces tougher challenges ahead. I hope he can come back more honed and focused.
If both NJ and FDA play as well as they have been this tournament, we should have a good final.
