Bit late for the thread (don’t see another one but “ignore” list prohibits viewing of spammers and haters):

SF lineup is set

#1 L’il Thimmie vs #7 Lorenzo Sonego

Casper Ruud vs (SE) ARV

ARV will be attempting to complete the first Alpine Double since Gaston Gaudio won both Gstaad and Kitzbuhel in 2005.

Disgust or continue to ignore

Thiem may take this one

I thought I saw Andreas Lust, Austrian actor, in the stands during the Thiem-Sonego match. But the man looked younger that I would think Andreas should. Did anybody notice?

Thiem gets it done vs Sonego, 6-3 7-6(6), setting up the final vs ARV.

One streak will be broken...Thiem’s futility on Austrian soil or ARV’s quest for the Alpine Double, the first since Gaudio in 2005.

Congrats to Thiem on becoming only the 2nd Austrian player since Muster (1993) ever to win his home tournament!

This is his 3rd title of the season (following on from Indian Wells and Barcelona), 10th at 250 level and 14th overall.

This season he has won a Masters, a 500 and a 250. Can he go for a full house and add both of the 2 top titles: a Slam and the WTF?

Not sure what you mean by “hometown.” Dominic is from Wiener Neustadt, some 400 km from Kitzbuhel.

Thomas Muster is a past champion at Kitzbuhel and 2x champion at the other Austrian clay tournament, the now defunct St. Poltens. His home at Leibnitz is also remote from both Kitzbuhel and St. Poltens.

I meant native son.

For some reason I thought Muster had never won an Austrian event. Must have misread some of the facts about his career somewhere.

And now a quick turnaround to HCs in Montreal as the #2 seed. He gets the 1R bye and will play either Shapo or PH Herbert. 1-0 vs Shapo, 0-2 vs PHH, @Meles
Thiem's form looks pretty so, so to me but maybe he doesn't like damp conditions on clay. Some momentum for Montreal and of course a bye hopefully will have him primed. Awful draw at Roger's Cup.
