Statistical oddity...through 3-3 in the second set only, both players are 6/6 1st serve points and 6/8 2nd serve points.

Tsits sitting one game away from dat title! This is exactly where The Lord faltered in the first set.

Just hold your damn serve. Ernests!

Again, but this time for the match and title, The Young Greek God is too much for Ernests to stay up with. 6-4 6-4 with a closing break at love.

Congrats to first time titleist Stefanos!

Many many more to come, I'm sure.

First title for Tsitsipas! Excellent tournament from the young Greek, who rises to 13th in the race as things stand (though if Edmund can defeat Monfils in Antwerp, Stefanos will remain in 14th).

Gulbis is up to 96th in the race after this week, and will likely earn direct entry into the Australian Open main draw as a result.

Congrats to Tsitsipas on his two set win! :) I thought it would be a closer match. Happy for his first ever title win! :)

I see now that he's the Royal Highness, so it kind of makes sense.

LOL. ATP lists Gulbis at 6' 4" (193 cm). Tsitsispas is listed the same despite appearing to be 2 inches taller on podium. Tsits minimum 6' 5".o_O

Parroted Gublis and kept thanking everyone. yada yada yada nothing of interest. Didn't even talk about team.
It was pretty bad, but he’s never made a victory speech in a tournament above s Challenger. Let’s cut him some slack. ;)

Klizan and Gulbis had a 100% success in finals in ATP tournaments, both bad boys lost 100% success in finals ATP tournaments in range one month - Klizan on September 23 in St. Petersburg, Gulbis on October 21 in Stockholm.

Tsitsipas played consistent, clean tennis (needs to work on his first serve) the entire tournament. I felt oddly confident after the quarterfinal that he'd take it all. I did have a moment of doubt at match point with his manic pacing that the excitement/pressure of the first title was going to cause him to choke but an unfortunate UE by Gublis gave the last point to Stefanos.

I'm telling ya this kid is good! and he's basically my one great hope with the nextgens.

but yeah this wasn't the most exciting of matches.

I like Tsitsipas too and love his easy power off the nice one handed BH. But his court positioning is too defensive and he stands too far back in the court. I hope he learns to hug the baseline like Andre and Roger. Nice understated celebration for his first tournament victory!

Congrats to Tsitsipas, he deserved his first title after the season he's having.

Disappointed as a Gulbis fan that he got broken twice at the same stage and about his lacklustre return game today. I think the 2nd set he was starting to feel tired. Still a great week for him after those tough, tough times.

At least Ernie outclassed Tsitsipas in terms of speeches. He gave a nice one. Short but hit all the right notes. :D

Agreed on all accounts. His shots make up for some of his inexperience but at 20 he has many years to learn.

And how I love a 1HBH

Congrats to Stefanos on becoming the 1st Greek player ever to win a tour level title and 1 of no less than 13 maiden ATP titlists this season and 1 of 2 this week along with Kyle Edmund. What a season he's been having with maiden appearances in a Masters 1000 event (Toronto, l.to Nadal), an ATP500 event (Barcelona, l.to Nadal) and now a maiden title in Stockholm! :)

That's prince Daniel. He is actually a man of the people who happened to marry a princess so he is not entitled to become king. He ran a gym business before he became prince and is very well liked here in Sweden.

No worries, Ernie will crack down on anyone using liquor, drugs or engaging in illicit sex.

He will be especially tough on anyone caught impersonating a police officer.

I can see why Gulbis keeps changing his forehand. His forehand is funny. That last shot of the match... his racquet face is closed too much, looked like he brush the top of the ball and the ball hit the net. He should learn to hit eastern forehand.
