We still need to see his skills at the net, but other than that, he's shown everything so far. Good serving, good FH & BH, and good defensive skills. Serve returns are also decent.

Chung is looking good. And it's not like he's going all out playing a risky game. He can play like this over many matches I feel. Difficult to breakdown.

Nadal fistpumping on a Chung error. Already training for his moment de gloire when the umpire gifts him another point.

Chung really has his own style here. Glasses. Too tight shirts, a short shirt(can almost see his nipples in serve), flat shoes and being asian which is not that common in tennis. kind of cool with something different here.

Nadal's trying everything to find the weakness in Chung's game. Chung is responding well but Nadal is too good. 15-40.

He was #51 at 19 years old. So I wouldn't say he popped out of nowhere. Afterwards he had a slightly bad period. He always played in this style, but it's nothing but normal for a young player to keep improving.

Yes, I know, but it is not like he gets talked a lot as the likes of Kyrgios/Thiem/Zverev.

Looks like Nadal is starting to hit the ball harder. He kind of has to otherwise Chung will get there.

True, but to be fair he hasn't done anything as of yet to deserve that kind of a hype. Hasn't been close to an ATP final yet.

Yes, hence my "popping out of nowhere" comment.

Anyway, Nadal went up a gear and it seems to be back to business as usual.

Chung still has to learn a few more tricks. He's hitting the ball hard but to the same spot over and over again. Nadal will punish that. He should try and move Nadal around.

Nadal playing well though, as he has all year. Given his form, I'm surprised he didn't give Grandpa Fed more troubles this year.

Chung started off really well but, like so many of the younger, lower-ranked players, can't keep up the level when put under pressure by the top guys. Playing in-form Nadal is always a learning experience for these younger guys. Hope he enjoys the experience anyway! ;)

So much for all the skeptical predictors of multiple bakery products. The NE Asian Istomin is holding his own, even drawing first blood on the Rafa service before being coaxed into the rebreak. Key game here at 4-5.

Chung's game seems quite effective, though still a bit weird stylistically. His clay movement seems lacking though, and that will be his undoing today.

Good he beat Zverev, otherwise today's match would have been rubbish.

He played really well in that game to hold serve. Now 5-5

HC's serve is surprisingly better than a year ago. His FH too.
